Hello! I'm so glad you're here. My therapy style is strengths-based and empathetic. I recognize how hard it can be to seek change and ask for help and I love supporting clients in this journey. I believe we all can benefit from telling our stories and finding new ways to understand them. Research reveals that clients who trust and feel comfortable with their therapists, report better results. Knowing this to feel all too true in therapy, we'll create a collaborative relationship using curiosity, understanding, and humor in order to find growth and healing for you.

Are you seeking to live more authentically? Would you like to have breakthroughs on habitual patterns, gain deeper spiritual connections and heal from past wounds so you can live more joyfully? I currently run a community called The LIT Seekers, a community for experiential therapists, spirit seekers, meaning makers, healers and coaches. This community enjoys & studies Illuminated Healing (LIT) Methods: the integration of embodiment, shadow/light work (IFS), and working with guides. These somatic practices lead to powerful life-changing transformations for both clinicians and clients.

Seeking therapy is a brave step. Whether you are presently in crisis or simply feeling a bit stuck in life, I honor the effort & courage that it took you to get here. It suggests that—regardless of how you might feel in this moment—some small (or large) part of you believes in the possibility of a more peaceful, fulfilling life. As a therapist, I am here to not only affirm and amplify that belief, but more importantly, to help you discover and define its reality for yourself.

You are an individual with a unique story. Perhaps you’re a parent who wants to expand what it means to raise a child, maybe you’re processing trauma and working on re-parenting yourself, or you’re exploring questions of gender and sexuality. I come to this work because of stories. Stories of the human condition, stories we tell ourselves, the story that culture tells us, and stories that need repair. Sometimes we need help understanding, processing, or reimagining our stories.

Since the start of the pandemic, so many of us have come to crossroads in our lives. When in isolation we have been forced to look closely at the relationships we value, the activities we enjoy, and what we wish to change. In the age of social media, the culture of comparison has dominated our inner psyches and altered our abilities to obtain lasting happiness. In our work together, I want to provide you with a warm, thoughtful, socioculturally-attuned, and collaborative environment. Here, we can explore your individual needs, the belief systems you hold, and your hopes for the future.

People come to me when they feel overwhelmed by their emotions, stuck in spirals of anxiety, depression, or trauma responses. I provide one-on-one, couples, and group therapy to help people explore their identities and relationship issues so that they can overcome the walls they have unintentionally created that may be shutting others out. I tend to work best with those who are curious about themselves and eager to grow.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) who values the individuality of each patient and their needs within the context of universal human fears, existential and terrestrial. In other words, if you're tired of the old tapes in your head, we will be able to address this in session. I specialize in addressing anxiety, depression, eating disorders & relationship challenges in individual & couples therapy. I use EMDR as a modality for trauma work combined with humanistic existential psychology, DBT and mindfulness . I trust in the therapeutic process and I'm passionate about facilitating change with my clients.

Many people get to a point in their lives when they feel stuck. Friends and family who used to be able to help are no longer able to, or don’t know how. During these times, it can be beneficial to have a relationship that is different, one in which you can share honestly without feeling judged or misunderstood and, in turn, be asked questions that can enhance insight and spur positive change. Welcome to therapy! As a therapist, I am welcoming, compassionate and curious. Therapy can be hard, so my goal is to help you to feel safe and accepted while engaged in a journey that will naturally involve some discomfort.

You're not crazy. You're not a burden. You're not weak. You're just human. And as such, we're constantly changing and evolving. Life is full of endless transitions, whether that be a departure from a relationship, coping with the death of a loved one, changing career paths, or just learning how to better communicate with those around us. No matter what you might want to work on, therapy gives you the space to not only focus on yourself, but to feel supported in whatever stage of life you find yourself navigating.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
