anxiety
, depression, perfectionism, identity, work/school balance, self-esteem, sexual identity, relationships, and grief.
Hello! I'm so glad you're here. My therapy style is strengths-based and empathetic. I recognize how hard it can be to seek change and ask for help and I love supporting clients in this work. I believe we all can benefit from telling our stories and finding new ways to understand them. Research reveals that clients who trust and feel comfortable with their therapists, report better results. Knowing this to feel all too true in therapy, we'll create a collaborative relationship based on trust, curiosity, understanding, and humor in order to find growth and healing for you.

Currently Accepting New Clients. I believe in collaboration. It takes two in a relationship, and I am here to guide you with your problems. Empathy, Positivity, and Self-Analysis are at the core of my techniques. These factors allow a safe place for us to understand your problems and confront challenges that keep you from the peace and happiness you deserve. Recognizing existential themes, cyclical patterns, and your particular needs will be the driving force in our therapy.

I have experience and specialty training in treating PTSD, depression,
anxiety
and addiction.
Trauma manifests in many forms including difficult childhood experiences, sexual assault, abusive relationships and through various life transitions (divorce, pregnancy, postpartum). These life experiences can negatively shape the way you view yourself, your relationships and your interpersonal world. I can assist you in overcoming the effects of trauma to create a more fulfilling, hopeful life. My treatment approach is psychodynamically-oriented and mindfulness-based with an emphasis on creating a safe environment and alliance to help you feel secure and supported. I use empathy, humor and curiosity to fully understand your distress and work along side you to create change.

What is important to you? What do you value. how is your life currently reflecting those values and what is getting in the way? These are the types of questions I ask to help you better understand yourself, your needs, and how to get those needs met. It is important to me that the space we create is compassionate, open, curious, reflective, and interactive, where you can bring all parts of yourself and be genuine, without judgment. Common issues that I work with on in therapy include life transitions, managing stress/
anxiety
, building your sense of Self, relationship concerns, and improving communication.

I work with those struggling with relationship issues,
anxiety
, depression, boundary issues.
The therapeutic process is about becoming most fully ourselves. The more we come to know ourselves in an authentic and true way, the more fulfilling our lives and our relationships become. Change occurs when there is a new understanding, not just in our intellectual mind, but in our bodies and spirits as well. This kind of work, though difficult, and sometimes painful, is also deeply rewarding. It can also seem like a scary idea to some, not knowing if making lasting change is even possible.

I have worked in a variety of clinical settings helping people overcome depression,
anxiety
, trauma, and life stressors.
I help people who feel disconnected from themselves and find what matters most to them. In the 7+ years I’ve been providing therapy, I have developed a therapeutic style that focuses on understanding the unique experiences that have shaped your sense of yourself and how you move through the world. I also have a particular interest in exploring clients' religious and spiritual identity. Together we can gain a better understanding of why you feel disconnected and take decisive steps to help you feel more engaged and excited about life.

I help creative individuals manage
anxiety
and heal from trauma. You've worked hard and have come a long way. On the outside everything seems fine, but on the inside there's the worry, the tension, the self-doubt, the old stories and the old hurts. You’re not sure where to start, but what you do know is that something has to change. You want to heal your wounds, change repeated patterns, and feel more grounded, calm, and empowered. Therapy can help. My experience includes working with difficult childhoods/difficult pasts, multicultural, LGBTQ+, and spiritual issues.

Throughout my time as a therapist, I have worked with adults and adolescents who have struggled to manage their day-to-day lives while dealing with trauma, depression, and
anxiety
.
There are times in our lives when we may feel overwhelmed or lost, leaving us feeling stuck or unsure of how to progress. Therapy often sounds daunting as it can carry stigma and judgement, and for that reason I strive to build a solid foundation built on trust and connections with clients.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
