My relational approach integrates psychodynamic, feminist, narrative, and somatic therapies.
Starting a new relationship is a big step. And one of the most important steps in therapy is finding a therapist to build connection and space for healing. I aim to co-create an attuned, safe, and collaborative relationship. Where we go in your therapeutic journey centers around your goals and individuality. Together, we can explore problem narratives, relationship patterns, oppressions that may impact you, and mind-body connection with warmth, curiosity, and compassion. I hope to accompany you through the (re)discovery of your inherent resilience to pursue growth that enables you to live authentically and explore new possibilities.

I bring somatic practices and tools for achieving emotional regulation into my work when needed.
The stories we tell about ourselves can be complicated. Often times, how we see ourselves is based on how others see us, on societal expectations, or assumptions rooted in the past. I work with clients to help engage curiosity and exploration, detangling behaviors and feelings that get in the way of the life and relationships they desire. I believe the problems we face can actually serve as an important catalyst for achieving the things we value most in our lives. In session, we will work together to create new meaning, generating change when needed and exploring what all is possible.

I integrate somatic practices that call upon your body’s wisdom, DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and mindfulness (borrowed from Buddhist practices) to expand your capacity to navigate and withstand life’s challenges with more agency and acceptance.
I am a Latine, Queer person and LA-based psychotherapist with roots in the borderlands of the Sonoran Desert. As your therapist, I can support you in accessing and nourishing your tender (sometimes hidden) parts, within a therapeutic relationship built on mutual respect and consent. My therapy process is collaborative, embodied, and curious. I enjoy working with people of all ages and identities, and have a soft spot for teens.

In therapy, I use several modalities including relational gestalt, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and somatic awareness techniques.
I believe that each of our lives is an ecosystem, comprised of the interconnecting forces that influence our well-being. This includes our relationships with other people, with cultural and economic forces and even our own bodies. When we are out of balance or suffer trauma, we are often left feeling anxious, depressed or lost. Could you use an ally in making the "ecosystem" of your life more healthy and vibrant? I provide therapy for adults, children, couples, intimate partners and groups.

This is a somatic approach that allows us to get beneath the words in order to focus on actions and real, felt experiences.
I know that beginning psychotherapy can feel scary. I hope to provide a space that feels warm, non-judgmental and helpful. I tend to work with adults, adolescents and couples who are experiencing trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and many of the other effects and challenges of the world we live in. Overall, I believe that navigating these experiences feels better when we get to work through them with someone else.

My approach integrates Hakomi Somatic Psychotherapy, inner child work, expressive art, and mindfulness-based CBT.
What if there’s nothing to fix? What if your darkest feelings were welcomed? What if the key to healing your anxiety and depression is actually allowing yourself to have anxiety and depression? What if your body holds all the answers… And what if the answers begin with self-acceptance? Too often I witness clients grinding to “figure it out;” keeping a scorecard of their traumas, abandonment fears, and depressions, trying to isolate parts of themselves to change so that they can be “better.” In the end, this only compounds internalized shame, unworthiness, and insecurity. So what if we try a different way? What if we try gentleness?

Some of the ways we might do this are: challenging unhelpful internalized messages, exploring early life experiences, and incorporating somatic (body-centered) practices.
I’m a queer multiracial therapist who specializes in working with adults in their 20s and 30s. Many of the people I work with seek therapy because they feel stuck, lost, or overwhelmed. You might be struggling to manage deep emotions while keeping up with everyday life, or feel like everything you do needs to be perfect. Through a relationship based on trust and safety, I’ll work alongside you to identify what’s holding you back and reconnect with your unique strengths. As a result, you’ll make choices that align with your values, feel more connected to yourself and others, and move forward with greater ease and presence.

I find that somatic work deepens one's ability to process experiences & provides an ever-present tool for self-care & stress management.
Psychotherapy has the greatest impact when it is collaborative, interactive, and trauma-informed. I provide a safe, empowering space where we can slow down & untangle the messiness of being a human. Some of the goals of our work together will include: managing stressors, breaking old patterns, setting healthy boundaries, and weathering the upsets of life through mindfulness, co-regulation, and self-compassion. Therapy is about connecting to your strengths and learning how to integrate your experiences, including your traumas, into a healed, authentic sense of self. I am trained in attachment-focused EMDR & the Hakomi method.

I'm passionate about holistic healing & find it beneficial to incorporate somatic techniques & creativity.
Choosing a therapist is an important decision. In my experience, the best therapeutic work happens when there is a strong relationship between you and your therapist. I believe that healing happens when you are able to share your inner world with another person and feel safe and supported doing so. My goal is to create an environment where you feel seen, heard, cared for, and understood. The therapeutic process can be both challenging and rewarding. Processing your experiences in therapy helps to deepen self-awareness, and can positively impact your mood, functioning, and interpersonal relationships.

I have extensive knowledge and experience dealing with life challenges such as relationships/communication, parenting, grief and loss, life transitions, somatic complaints, and trauma.
When we suffer from feelings related to grief or loss, from unsatisfying relationships in the past or present, or from wishing to have more joy in our lives--therapy can be a powerful step toward healing and relief. Having a safe place and a compassionate person with whom to share our grief, our critical or frightening thoughts, and our longings can help enormously. I work in a relational, supportive, and collaborative way to help people move from anxiety, trauma, depression and problems with relationships to a place of increased trust, safety, and satisfaction.

With special training in Jungian and Somatic (Body Centered) Therapy we will develop insight into the ways conscious as well as unconscious thoughts, feelings, and physical behaviors interact and affect your choices.
Are you looking for insight into difficult thoughts or feelings that keep you from enjoying relationships, family, and career? When traumatic events or unexpressed feelings are left unattended we can become identified with these states and symptoms like depression, social anxiety, substance abuse and self sabotage can arise. It can be difficult to make changes and overcome obstacles without support, new tools, and new insight.

I utilize approaches based in Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, CBT, IFS, Somatic Experiencing, TRM & EMDR.
You can and will thrive in your relationships, creativity and career. I believe in looking at the whole person, body and mind, to actualize real growth and to discover realistic solutions. For couples, you will develop more effective communication and conflict resolution skills, rekindle intimacy, trust and care as a team, or learn to navigate co-parenting and divorce well. For individuals you will overcome blocks and unhelpful patterns, resolve trauma, shame and fears, develop greater self-awareness, confidence and create real coping skills in the midst of stress and anxiety to regain empowerment and peace in your own life.

I am trained in EMDR (a somatic trauma informed therapy) and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) for couples.
I create a safe container in which we can explore your truest self, heal wounds and explore patterns. Perhaps you experience anxiety or depression on a regular basis and want to understand the root cause so that you can experience joy and ease in your life again. Maybe you and your partner have been stuck in the same argument loop and you seek emotional reconnection. Perhaps there are lasting effects of trauma that you wish to heal. In our work together, we will explore the deeper issues that cause distress so you can get back to or even start enjoying life again.

Because trauma is stored in the body I offer Brainspotting, Havening Techniques and Somatic Therapy (TRM), all known for their effectiveness in releasing trauma and recovering the felt sense of calm, inner strength, wisdom and choice.
Are you stuck or blocked with moving towards the relationship, job, or inner calm you desire? Often at the core of feeling stuck or blocked is unprocessed trauma. While traumatic events happened in the past your mind may still be on high alert as if the event is happening right now. Trauma disconnects us from ourselves, our bodies and from others. It can interfere with our sleep, mood, thinking, and relationships along with our overall health and wellness. The good news is that our bodies are able to recover from such events and we can move out of the stuck places and recover our resiliency and courage.

I specialize in spiritual and depth psychology and utilize a multi-theoretical framework that incorporates feminist, humanistic, existential, somatic , internal family systems, mindfulness, gestalt, psychodynamic, and attachment-based approaches.
My passion lies in supporting those of all ages and identity backgrounds who are interested in self exploration and discovery. I practice from a trauma informed, sex-positive, queer affirming, feminist, spiritual and social justice-oriented standpoint. Understanding how the “personal is political” and how psychological challenges are rooted in systemic oppression is central to my work. My experience in sexual/reproductive healthcare and working as a birth and postpartum doula catalyzed my interest in supporting those undergoing vulnerability regarding their sexuality, pain, pleasure, health, gender identity and life transitions.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
