I specialize in EMDR Trauma Processing, Adolescent Mental Health, Art Therapy, and Addiction.
I work with teens and adults struggling with unresolved trauma, relational issues, existential fear, grief, gender dysphoria, self-harm, addiction, anxiety, and depression. I work from a psychodynamic lens, which means looking at my client’s past as a means of informing the present and helping them discover the unconscious blind spots that unknowingly contribute to their distress. I am passionate about helping to reconcile past trauma such as abuse, bullying, oppression, and toxic relationships. I also work with families and couples stuck in destructive patterns and having the same fight over and over.

Sometimes it is difficult to ask for help. Recognizing that you may need support with relationships, or a deeper understanding of yourself is the first step on the road to recovery and the beginning of the healing process. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I offer empathic listening in a safe environment, as well as the support, guidance and feedback that will give you the tools to discover and address the root of the problem in order to create long-term change and personal growth.

I believe that we all have the resources within us to heal, and yet sometimes we need a little help. The right connection between a therapist/client can help start that healing. Maybe your teenager is sullen and isolated. Maybe you are in love and scared to be truly seen by another. Maybe there’s an angry side of you that your family doesn’t understand and a vulnerable side that is too scary to feel. Together we can work on acceptance, healthy coping skills, and letting go of bad habits. Without judgment, we will build an understanding of who you are as a person so as to realize your strengths and fortify them.

Reaching out for help can be one of the hardest things to do when you're struggling the most. What if no one understands you or you feel judged? How do you know you can trust them to take you seriously or care? I understand that these are natural fears when you're sharing the hurt and vulnerable parts of yourself. For this reason, my goal is to make sure you feel safe and heard by providing an empathetic and judgement-free space regardless of your background.

Many of my clients experienced heightened feelings of anxiety, depression, and burnout during the COVID-19 global pandemic. The crushing weight of local and global issues became burdensome as they were expected to stay afloat in their everyday lives. This led them to question their purpose and role in society. How was I doing it all? Am I even happy? Where do I go from here? Here’s the thing. There is no way we can go back to life as we knew it. This is an opportunity to begin anew.

Infertility is a journey that no one signed up for. For those who want children, it’s simply devastating to be unable to expand your family as planned, while others around you move forward with their lives. Yet 1 in 8 couples experience infertility and many others experience barriers—systemic, financial, and biological—to pursuing their family-building dreams. In my practice, I specialize in issues related to fertility (delayed parenthood, egg-freezing, pregnancy loss, donor-conception, surrogacy, IVF, and other forms of family-building). I understand the intense stress these issues can place on your relationships and mental health.

Day in and day out, we’re bombarded with messages about how we should be, and many of us find ourselves constantly trying to fit a mold. I create a space of reprieve from the pressures of everyday life – a space where you can relax and be your truest self without fear of judgment. I believe strongly in the power of honest connection to heal the wounds of self-doubt and self-criticism. My priority is to create a space that is inclusive, safe and above all YOURS. I am not here “heal,” but to work alongside you while you grow.

You might put up a good front but on the inside you feel like a mess. Your inner critic won't let you rest and you find yourself pulling away from loved ones, unmotivated professionally, and disengaging from the world. You feel overwhelmed, uncertain, insecure and/or maybe even numb. You've tried on your own but it's been difficult to find relief. I know starting therapy can seem intimidating, especially if you have dismissive parents, internalized rejection or feel like an invisible minority, but sometimes the healing process starts by showing up and investing in yourself.

By utilizing a client-centered approach, I meet you where you are from session-to-session in order to provide an environment focused on comfort, trust, and understanding. New clients welcome in person and online - find the support you need and help with anxiety during this intense time. The combined experience of our therapists means expertise on a wide range of issues. Do you feel anxious, stuck and overwhelmed, battling a voice inside that says you are never good enough? Some part of you knows a change is needed but it feels like there's no one out there who gets it, gets you and could truly help. You need someone who knows what they are doing, is compassionate but also direct, not someone who just sits and nods.

Are the feelings of helplessness and powerlessness always present in your life? Have you been acting fine while there is a lot of anxiety, hurt, and anger inside? Having this mental state can be painful. Many people learn not to talk about it and get busy in their life. This avoidance can worsen their anxiety and depression. And it can develop other mental health symptoms, such as panic attacks, insomnia, and obsessive compulsive disorders. Trauma and attachment injuries are often the root causes of the issues.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
