In addition to working with depression, anxiety, life transitions, and relationships, these are a few of my specialties: Addiction, eating & body, parenting and infertility.
Sometimes it can feel like everyone else is doing so much better than you are. You might look around and wonder, why am I not where I thought I would be at in this point in my life? Am I not good enough, smart enough, or brave enough? Is there someone to blame? Is it because my body is broken, or my heart, or all of the above? I know that life is complex. I know that bravery and resilience come in many forms. I want to partner with you on this journey and help you remember things that you may have forgotten about yourself. I’ve witnessed people change their lives in ways that they would have thought were unimaginable. You can too.

The kids are finally asleep and you need a week off before you’re ready to deal with tomorrow. Parenting can be relentless and exhausting. You want to be present for your kids, you want to enjoy their company, but you really need is a nap—or sit by yourself and have a snack. You are burned out. If it was just the kids you’d be ok, but work, family and personal stress is pushing you past your capacity and it’s time for a change.

In life there is pain. Painful experiences growing up that stay inside and manifest in our everyday behavior and internal struggles. In my work, whether the person is a child, teen, young adult, parent , or woman, I aim to provide a space of compassion and safety from which to understand the world around us (relationships, school, work, friendships) and the internal world within us (thoughts, emotions, pain, discomfort). The goal in my work is to help you/your child get in touch with, tune in, and understand themselves; in particular thoughts and feelings.

Besides psychotherapy, I provide parent training, child custody mediation, and work in a multidisciplinary team as a divorce coach and child expert in the collaborative divorce process to prevent emotional damage to all parties going through divorce, especially children.
As a cognitive-behavioral therapist, I believe that people's emotions and behaviors are influenced by their perceptions and interpretation of events. I work collaboratively with my clients in a proactive manner in order for them to learn effective strategies that they can use for the rest of their lives. I also believe that we are influenced by the cultural context in which we grow up. All relationships are, to some extent, are contextual and intercultural. People often face new challenges as they go through transitions in their lives. I bring my life experiences and professional knowledge to therapy.

Please note I am only paneled with Cigna for insurance- My name may be coming up on other insurance panels but this is not accurate and should be changed soon! I do provide out of network superbills for reimbursement for all others though! My clients want to learn how to understand their brains, the brains of the people they love, and how what's going on inside them can affect the way they feel and behave. I use creative, engaging approaches to help clients learn and grow! While a lot of my work is with parents and kids, I also work with non- parent adults too so feel free to reach out for a consultation to see if I'm the right fit!

Being a parent is hard work. There are so many unexpected challenges and emotions that arise that can feel overwhelming and isolating. I work with families who are struggling with parenting challenges, child sleep issues, pregnancy and/or birth trauma and postpartum mothers and fathers and couples who are adjusting to life as a family. I believe in a holistic approach where we focus on the past and present and how it connects to our current life as well as our mind, body and spirit.

I specialize in couples, families and parenting .
"The best way out is always through." This famous Robert Frost quote is at the core of my approach. When we get stuck -- in a rut at work, in a stormy relationship, in a lukewarm marriage, with our children -- we suffer but are often unwilling to go to the heart of the trouble. Sometimes, we're not even aware of what the true issue is. All we can do is try to avoid the pain, skirt problems, even pretend we are fine. We are blocked by fear -- another word for anxiety. Together, we can walk slowly through that fear, and get to the other side.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
