I specialize in helping adults and
couples
navigate life transitions, trauma, depression, anxiety, self-esteem,
relationship
issues, career stress and burnout, and spiritual concerns using approaches crafted to your unique needs.
Do you sometimes feel like a tourist in your own life? Has your career reached a dead-end but you don't know how to make a change? Has your marriage or
relationship
grown stale or become a fight that never ends? Do thoughts of a better life whisper to you in the midst of depression, anxiety or deep fear? Conflict and getting stuck can be part of living, and sometimes our problems seem like they are updated versions of what plagued us as children and teenagers. What would your life feel and look like if these weren't there?

In our work together, we'll use tools to shift your
relationship
with anxiety so that you have space for other the other things that life has to offer.
Do you find yourself overthinking daily, repetitive thoughts holding you hostage and making your world smaller? Anxiety effects are also somatic. It drains energy, makes us tired, nervous and tense. My hope with you is to facilitate a safe space where you can comfortably encounter these feelings and begin to relate to anxiety with curiosity, openness and awareness. Psychological awareness allows us to re-negotiate how we interpret anxiety and how we relate to it.

Providing optimal care requires the capacity for humble self-reflection, the willingness to shift gears when needed, and the creativity to approach problems in unexpected ways. One of my primary goals as a therapist is to constantly question and re-evaluate my own perceptions, intuition, and clinical judgment.
I specialize in treating adolescents and adults with eating disorders,
relationship
issues, depression, and anxiety disorders. Broadly trained in dialectical behavioral, cognitive, behavioral, and psychodynamic treatments models, as well as specific empirically supported interventions, I strive to address each individual's needs with the appropriate clinical approach.

In each session, we process and reflect on your feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and
relationship
patterns, working toward self-discovery, growth, and adaptation to your life transitions.
It takes a lot of courage to face one’s own problems and sit with heavy emotions. Opening up to a therapist (stranger) about your personal stories is likely to feel uncomfortable at the beginning. ‘Would this therapist understand me? Can she help me?’ you might wonder because you really want to make your life better. I appreciate your courage and passion for your life! I will meet with you where you are now in your deep time of struggle. I can help you understand and genuinely accept who you are and access resilience and wisdom you already have within yourself to make meaningful changes in your life.

The
relationship
between my clients and myself is one of the most important factors in seeing improvements in therapy. The alliance developed and maintained in therapy is as important as the treatment provided. My ideal client would be an adult who has challenges with anxiety, depression,

I have experience working with adults, teens, and young adults who are going through life transitions, struggling with depression, self esteem, anxiety,
relationship
issues and more.
Starting therapy can be both exciting and relieving, as well as initially daunting. Many people avoid therapy for fear of judgement, not thinking their issues are "that bad", or are afraid of facing themselves. When there's avoidance or lack of help, these problems tend to keep getting worse. I believe that therapy is all about creating a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental space where we can work together to help you shift your mindset, make better choices, and improve aspects of your life that may not be working. My approach is all about working as a team to help you reach your personal goals.

Are relationships supposed to be this hard? When sexual issues keep you from maintaining or obtaining a happy
relationship
it's time to see a sex therapist. As a sex &
relationship
specialist, I successfully treat people with issues surrounding sexual desire & performance, sexual trauma, problems with arousal or orgasm, differences in the amount of sex they'd like to have, & sexual pain disorders such as vaginismus. I assist clients in building intimacy by deepening their mutual understanding & compassion (for their often very opposite mate!) and help them stay accountable for taking positive action to improve relationships.

What makes every practice unique is the
relationship
between client and therapist.
My goal is to help people open up and discover new aspects of themselves. I believe that every person has a unique and interesting story. I work towards deconstructing problem-saturated narratives and thickening thin descriptions that lead to unhealthy thinking patterns and behaviors.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
