I primarily use somatic, mindfulness, and compassion-based approaches, along with neuroscience-informed techniques.
I came to therapy first as a client, hoping to escape my feelings—only to discover the power of honoring them. If you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or sadness, stuck in painful thought patterns, or struggling with emotions that feel too heavy to carry alone, I’m here to help. Life can be challenging, but together, we can create a space where healing and change are possible.

In many ways good psychotherapy is like a successful remodel, frequently resulting in a stronger and more spacious sense of one's self, lovely new rooms, remarkable views and better access to the world outside (and in). The journey of self-discovery takes courage, but increasing one's awareness of old limitations and obstacles, and developing the ability to gently and carefully dismantle and rebuild where necessary is incredibly rewarding -- often beyond what we can imagine. I believe that it's a collaborative journey on which we embark, moving together towards creating a more fulfilling and rewarding life for you.

With over 17 years of licensed experience providing therapy in the state of California, I have treated a diversity of clients with a wide array of struggles and strengths. We will work together to create a solid plan that meets your needs using therapeutic techniques that the research has shown will help make improvements in the shortest amount of time. To put it simply, the people I meet with for individual or couples therapy often get better in a short amount of time. The path to "better" looks different for each person/couple and I enjoy figuring that puzzle out.

Therapy is an opportunity to address problems we want to change, gain insights into our concerns, and develop new ways of being. My approach to therapy is best described as integrative with a strong grounding in psychodynamic, relational, and multicultural principles. I draw on cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy to co-construct effective strategies for everyday life beyond the therapy room. I strive to provide clients a safe space to increase awareness, make meaning of the experience, and begin to cope and overcome life's difficulties. I provide individual and couple's therapy. I speak Mandarin and English.

Hello! I work with adults, adolescents and families. I believe we all have unique, innate strengths that we can rely upon to get us through tough situations but that sometimes it is hard for us to find them on our own. I work with my clients to uncover and develop each individual's own innate strengths while integrating a variety of research-based interventions to reduce anxiety, improve mood, process trauma, and improve relationships. Additionally, I have completed training in Levels 1 and 2 of EMDR, allowing me to offer this powerful intervention for healing.

I help ambitious, independent and sensitive people get unstuck. On your good days, you feel positively about yourself and where you're headed in life. But, often, you feel lost and lack clarity. You might have goals that feel out of reach or lack confidence in your ideas. You struggle to feel satisfied by your current job or school. Many days, you feel stuck in the same loop of negative emotions, past memories, or future anxieties. At its core, you feel as if you've lost touch with your best self. You may have even tried therapy before; and while it did help, you are finally ready to chase your dreams and move forward with life.

I use a flexible synthesis of psychodynamic, interpersonal, insight-oriented, and trauma-informed somatic perspectives.
As we live our lives, all of us face challenging curves in the road from time to time. Whether it be anxiety or depression, relational difficulties, troublesome patterns at work or school, or turbulence along a personal or spiritual path, we can all benefit from support navigating these consequential turns. Dissatisfaction or suffering on any scale can serve both as a signal and motivation towards greater understanding, integration, and alignment with ourselves, significant others, and our deepest values. Whether it’s anywhere from a modest course-correction to inner transformation you're seeking, let's explore the path together.

I offer somatic, mindfulness‑based therapy with parts / states work (Hakomi and ISITTA certified).
Overwhelmed, stuck, or in pain? Maybe it’s anxiety, low mood, burnout, grief that won’t lift, panic, or sleep that won’t cooperate. Thoughts race or go blank. You feel lonely around people, or crowded by them. Old trauma resurfaces; you react faster than you want; boundaries blur. Work and relationships start to suffer. If you want relief that lasts - steadier emotions, fewer spirals, clearer communication, better sleep and energy, or clearer path through major life changes - let’s talk. A brief introductory call can map a simple starting plan and see if we’re a fit so new patterns can take hold. Individuals, couples, and families.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
