My specialty is working with anxiety, depression, bipolar, self-harm, substance use, suicidal ideation and
relationship
issues.
Working with individuals who feel they need some extra support to tackle challenges that life throws at them is my passion. I believe that through the
relationship
and work between client and therapist, behaviors can be adjusted, relationships can be mended, unhealthy coping skills can be identified and reworked, and healthy change can occur. I create a safe, comfortable therapeutic environment where individuals can succeed in making positive growth in their lives. Taking a straightforward, honest, relaxed and empathetic approach to supporting clients frees clients to open up, discover their strengths and make the most of therapy.

I am an experienced psychotherapist who gets how hard life and therapy can be. I take an honest, empathetic, humorous and direct approach to our work and value the
relationship
we’ll make. Life is just one
relationship
after another, whether it be with your
partner
, your boss, or your phone and each has a positive and negative effect. My job is to help you untangle and understand those relationships to help you feel more connected, happy and maybe get that promotion.

Do you regularly face the effects of depression, anxiety, work burnout,
relationship
problems, or the use of drugs and alcohol? Do often feel at odds with yourself and your circumstances? Inner conflict, self criticism, rigid all or nothing ways of thinking, and unwillingness to accept ourselves for who we really are, block what we want in our lives. Therapy need not be long term nor require seeming endless focus on the past. You can decide what to work on and always have a say in the direction we take. There are solutions and you can feel like you are being true to yourself and to those who care about what's happening to you.

Are you feeling sad and don’t understand why? Sometimes life can feel hard. You might feel confused, overwhelmed, alone. Talk to me. I believe I can help.

I have 3 specialties: sex therapy, sleep treatment, and child/teen mental health. Mind & Body Garden Psychology is a Mandarin-English multicultural group practice with 20+ bilingual therapists, psychiatrists, etc. We provide psychotherapy and neuropsychological assessment services, and see our roles as gardeners. When people come to us seeking support, they may have too many branches of mental blocks and bushes of stress in their lives. What we can do is to help people be more aware of the branches and bushes that impact their quality of life, and then assist them to trim these parts, cope with stress, and live happily.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
