Are you ready for real change? Working with a licensed psychotherapist can be enormously helpful. I am passionate about empowering you to connect with your voice, create balance in your life, and have the satisfying and fulfilling relationships that you deserve. My approach often combines Western and Eastern Psychology to integrate Mind, Body, and Spirit which will deepen the relationship you have with yourself. I have specialized training in various modalities like EMDR that are helpful in healing emotional trauma, anxiety, mental blocks, pain, and can be supportive in creativity and high level performance.

Does it feel like you are your own worst enemy? Maybe you came from a family situation where you always somehow ended up feeling like you were “not good enough.” And now it shows up in your relationships, with you feeling insecure and afraid of being abandoned. In your work life - putting immense pressure on yourself to be “perfect.” And now you’re looking for therapy (and probably putting pressure on yourself to find just the right therapist so you don’t fail horribly at personal growth and confirm all your self-doubts.)

Do you want to feel better about yourself, more confident, and smile more? I'm no magician and can't make all these wishes come true. But I can provide a safe and unconditionally accepting place for you to explore the inner workings of your heart and soul and rid of old ways no longer serving you.

For 40 years, I have been honored to facilitate transformative changes for a culturally diverse clientele dealing with the trauma of sexual assault, grief and loss, substance abuse, anxiety, and inappropriate expressions of anger. I work with children and teens individually and in the context of their families. Parents who want help for their children may be called on to examine their own childhood and how it can affect current relationships with family members.

“All problems are psychological, but all solutions are spiritual” (Hora). I recognize spirituality as a significant contributor to lasting healing and I am profoundly inspired by the spiritual work I believe underlies so much of the therapeutic relationship. My steadfast intention is to collaborate with clients to richly explore their hopes for healing and growth as well as to evaluate what may be challenging their access to such change. I feel passionate about providing affirming support and honest insight for the individuals I work with. I hold hope for each of my clients that change is real and entirely possible.

I provide a strong and caring presence that allows people to relax, put down their walls and masks and enter into telling and seeing the most honest version of themselves and their stories. I come alongside people in times of fear, anxiety and confusion and provide a caring guidance that helps bring healing for their past hurts, a clearer understanding of their present situation and new possibilities for a better future. Whether it is working with adolescents or adults, my true strength comes from a deeply grounded faith and a secure identity that brings confidence and assurance to all around me.

I believe every person has the right to be heard fully and deeply, with understanding and without judgment. Whatever your difficulty, my first step will be to listen until we are both satisfied that I understand you, your problems, and your dreams. As you begin to listen to yourself with this same objectivity and compassion, you may begin to see the solutions on your own. Of course, with a trained ear, I will also be able to contribute insights and perspectives you may not have considered.

"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it." (Rumi) Life can feel like an obstacle course, with roadblocks and detours on your path. Change is inevitable and can sometimes be extremely challenging. How do you hold yourself during tough times? Do you suffer with fear, anxiety or depression? What is your body telling you? What beliefs do you hold about yourself? What did your Soul come here to experience? I believe that life is a sacred journey. I invite you to begin this journey of self exploration.

A few years ago I read a joke: "Fish don't know they're in the water". The scenario is that Fish Number One asks Fish Number Two, "How's the water?" Fish Number Two responds, "What the hell is water?". The fish who is "in" the situation (hence the water) does not even realize its surrounding. Second what surrounds you is only normal because it's what you know. I got another one that I recently came across: "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are." This references to dream analysis but it basically mean that our preconceptions can dramatically alter the way we perceive the world. (Quote is by writer Anais Nin).

Therapy is a powerful tool that has the potential to change your life in profound and lasting ways. It can help you cope with pain, make major life changes, improve relationships, or increase self worth. EMDR is a kind of therapy developed to treat trauma and can also be used to advance therapeutic goals like removing obstacles to change or healing from past hurtful experiences. Whatever your goals for treatment, I can provide a supportive environment where your feelings and thoughts can be expressed without judgment.

Do you have counterproductive behaviors that create more issues than they solve? Do you recognize maladaptive thought patterns that disrupt and hinder you from reaching your goals? Only by taking the time to explore your inner-workings, can you begin to identify and eradicate what doesn’t work by developing strategies & moving towards what does, allowing a healthy authentic adult version of you to emerge. I personally believe it's the obstacles we endure and the barriers we overcome that create our character.
