Anxiety, loneliness, and low self-esteem can affect children in unique ways. As a parent, you want your child to feel confident, secure, and safe - from societal standards, social media, bullying, and unfortunate circumstances. The truth is... events, people, and things have affected them in a way that matters to you, but getting your child to open up and divulge all that is happening within them is possibly VERY difficult. Sometimes the most confident person still can't find the words to say. Certain feelings and emotions live deep within your child. You're not alone in experiencing this and I can help.

I work with clients who are dealing with anxiety, depression, and self-esteem issues as they relate to systemic oppression, existential anxiety, social anxiety, boundaries, relationships, and unhelpful patterns of behavior. My goals with all clients are mostly the same: I hold space for you to vent your feelings. I assess for safety. I help you identify solvable problems and work on those while we process and unravel harmful belief systems and thought patterns that are guiding you more than you realize. I convince my clients that they are lovable by identifying and helping you aggressively attack unhelpful feelings of shame.

Navigating life in this generation is challenging for most people. Social media, societal views, pressure from family and friends; all things that have the possibility to break down our self-esteem and cause us to disconnect with our authentic self. My goal as a therapist is to assist my clients with identifying their perceived flaws and reframing their thoughts to recognize that these “flaws” can actually allow us to embrace all of our biggest strengths, and increase self-esteem. I support clients with re-connecting with their authentic self so that they can feel better in their skin.

You're doing it all - online yoga classes, meal-prepping, killing it at work, and making the best sourdough starter on this side of the Colorado River. But when you hit the pillow at night - there's a loneliness, a deep dissatisfaction, anxiety, a stirring discontentment. On the surface, you've got your shit together, but deep down - your life is being hijacked by your self-judgment, anxiety, negative beliefs, and the inner saboteur. Are you ready to get out of your own way so that you can finally enjoy relationships, work, and family? Your heart wants to be held and we were never meant to do this alone.

Dr. Gail Billings-Beck is glad to work with individuals facing transitions in life. She also enjoys work with couples, both gay and straight. Her theoretical background is based on the work of Alfred Adler, and her approach is individualized to the needs presented by each client. She specializes in self-esteem, anxiety and depression, anger management, addiction, aging and death and dying issues. Communication skills, including tone, are significant tools most of us can benefit from. Sometimes EMDR and/or hypnotherapy techniques are used to help deal with past trauma. Psychotherapy with Dr. Gail helps clients regain perspective and balance, managing anger and practicing calming, self-soothing exercises. Increased self-awareness helps make healthy choices possible. Healthy choices quickly improve energy and focus which leads to positive growth.

Self Esteem Therapists
Self-esteem lives on a spectrum: Not enough self-regard (or low self esteem) can lead people to become depressed, or to tolerate abusive situations and relationships. Too much self-love (or high self-esteem), results in an off-putting sense of entitlement and an inability to learn from failure. And it's occasionally a sign of clinical narcissism. Quite the opposite of being shy or shyness, yet still on the same spectrum.
