Algorithms aren't going to heal your relationship, especially if chronic illness is a factor! AI is everywhere, but it's not a person sitting across from you, tracking your dynamics and helping you actually change. We teach conflict as a skill, and you can get better at it. Not only that, but if you practice healthy conflict, you'll increase your intimacy and have a closer relationship. I know it sounds counterintuitive but I've seen it happen over and over. You don't have to be stuck in this pattern; I promise.

My ideal client feels stuck despite trying hard to move forward. They may struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, or a quiet sense of disconnection. Many are high-achieving professionals or caregivers who have spent years taking care of others while neglecting themselves. Some have tried therapy or medication and still feel something has not fully shifted. They want more than symptom relief. They want clarity, emotional steadiness, and a deeper understanding of themselves. They are ready for lasting change, not another temporary solution.

It’s possible to have more good days than bad, just like it’s possible to create change. With chronic pain, chronic illness, or anxiety, the hard days can overshadow the good. Change can seem distant, if not impossible. You might even have had experiences where you felt like you had to prove yourself or your experiences to others. That won’t happen here, however. I believe you and I’m here to support you. You are the expert of your experience, and your expertise can be a powerful tool for change and healing. I offer holistic therapy via telehealth in California that is trauma-informed and neuroaffirming.

Welcome to my practice. I have over 30 years of experience providing therapy to individuals and couples from very diverse backgrounds with regards to ethnicity, religion, age, country of origin, and sexual orientation. The therapy I do tends to be short-term, "here-and-now" focused, goal oriented, and skills based. I believe my clients want to change their behaviors, and not just "talk" about what's going wrong. My therapeutic style is collaborative, non-judgmental, warm and compassionate. I'm not a "one size fits all" therapist because every client is unique. I offer a Good Faith Estimate at the client's request.

You are the expert of your life! Utilizing an "eclectic" approach, I will draw from an array of psychological orientations to help you recognize and move past obstacles standing between you and your contentment; which will enable you to experience more fulfilling relationships. I'm a "compassionate soul" with great listening skills, although my style is "active" and I frequently utilize Cognitive Behavioral tools and techniques to help you challenge your thinking, reduce your anxiety, and to encourage you to take advantage of the full spectrum of thinking and being.

"Thoughts turn into Words. Words turn into Actions. Actions turn into Character. Character is everything." To create a more joyful and meaningful life is a passion of mine. I work creatively and collaboratively with adults, teens, and children to explore the heart of the matter. Together we consider (investigate, examine, observe) symptoms and emotional pain; we design realistic goals; we develop skills to alleviate obstacles; and, as we work to achieve your dreams, we discover your increased motivation and self-confidence.

As of April 2025, I am accepting new clients for both in-person work and teletherapy. I specialize in helping high-achieving professionals with anxiety, substance use, and related issues. My approach centers on shifting fundamental feelings and emotions and avoiding extensive intellectualized analysis of near-term stressors and personal history. I provide therapy that is focused, ambitious, and finite. I believe good therapy should start to work relatively quickly (in the first 2-6 sessions). If change doesn't start in that timeframe, we'll talk about what or who might serve you better.

Cancer Therapists
How does cancer affect mental health?
A cancer diagnosis is a major life event that can significantly influence the mental health of any individual. Being diagnosed with cancer often introduces a sense of uncertainty about the future, which can cause clients to experience symptoms of anxiety, depression, and significant distress. Many cancer patients may also worry about the toll that their diagnosis may have on their family, their physical health, their job, and their financial situation. The compounding of such stressors can also decrease mental health in clients and may lead to additional symptoms that can influence mental health, such as sleeping difficulties or social withdrawal.

What is the best psychological therapy for cancer patients?
The best type of psychological therapy for cancer patients is highly dependent on the needs of the individual. The therapy type that a client benefits from may also depend on what stage of the cancer journey they are in. Recently diagnosed cancer patients, for instance, may benefit from therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which can help clients develop skills to manage the emotional distress that comes with a cancer diagnosis. Alternatively, cancer patients further along in their journey may benefit from therapies like Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) or other forms of mindfulness therapy to help manage symptoms or physical pain associated with treatment. Clients may also consider group therapy, which offers cancer patients an opportunity to receive support from other individuals dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

Are there any risks or drawbacks in going to therapy while dealing with cancer?
Although attending therapy while dealing with a cancer diagnosis can be helpful, one major concern for cancer patients can be the financial cost of seeking therapy. Many therapists are out-of-network, meaning they do not accept insurance, and thus clients are expected to pay the entirety of the session fee. Since many cancer patients may be out of work as a result of their diagnosis or cancer treatment regimen, the costs of therapy sessions can be substantial. Luckily, many cancer centers and local clinics may offer free or substantially reduced-cost counseling services to cancer patients and their families. In addition, cancer patients may be eligible for grants or other forms of funding from local agencies and nonprofits to seek therapy for their cancer diagnosis. Such opportunities can be very helpful for cancer patients, as they allow clients to obtain the benefits of therapy without the financial strain.

How long does cancer therapy typically last?
The length of cancer therapy depends on the needs of each client. In some cases, cancer patients may only require therapeutic support during the period following their initial diagnosis—to help manage the uncertainty and shock of a cancer diagnosis. In other cases, clients may choose to receive therapy throughout their treatment, and even following, their cancer journey. Pursuing therapy for a longer period of time can help clients develop a deeper relationship with their therapist and provide opportunity to process the challenges presented by cancer treatment, such as physical pain, and challenges associated with cancer survivorship, such as ongoing identity concerns, physical limitations, or relationship challenges.
