I integrate EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) for trauma, Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT), and I-CBT for OCD, while keeping things grounded in a strengths-based, relational, whole-person perspective.
I work with clients ages 11+ and have a special interest in supporting LGBTQIA+ folks, neurodivergent (AuDHD) individuals, and those navigating OCD and trauma. I also enjoy working with parents of spirited kids and families moving through big transitions.

Difficult feelings can be the beginning of new self-understanding and growth. If you seek a greater sense of yourself and are ready to engage in a process that results in lasting transformation, then depth psychotherapy-an integration of mind, body and spirit-is the path for you. Depth work happens through a supportive environment where a therapeutic relationship forms and facilitates inner development towards your fuller potential.

For more specific types of problems (such as panic disorder or OCD), I provide exposure-based treatment.
My approach to therapy is based on Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). A core idea in ACT is that trying too hard to get rid of or control our emotions tends to backfire. Instead of trying to get rid of unwanted thoughts and feelings (e.g., anxiety & depression), I will help you learn to react differently to them so that you can keep your focus on living a meaningful and fulfilling life based on what’s important to you. We will work together to set meaningful goals to address your concerns–whether they relate to life transitions, depression, anxiety, body image, grief/loss, job or academic stress, or gender & sexuality.

I understand the bravery it takes to show up in your vulnerability and I aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate space that cultivates courage over comfort in our work. As a somatic psychotherapist, I like to offer a space for the body and mind to connect. My work is also influenced by humanistic, relational, and psychodynamic modalities tailored to support your unique individual needs.

My clients tend to be people who want to feel more in control of their emotions, more effective at getting what they want, less stuck, more flexible, more connected and really just more at peace. They seek relief from patterns - sometimes chronic and severe, sometimes only subtly troublesome - of painful emotions, negative self-talk and thoughts, rumination, relationship instability and self sabotaging behaviors. Many of my clients tend to have had very painful formative or recent experiences of invalidation that have been difficult or confusing.

For nearly 20 years (since 2007) I have been working in the mental health field with children, adolescents and their parents, as well as with individual adults. I consider it a profound privilege to help my clients through difficulties so that they might find greater ease and satisfaction in their lives. You may well be searching through these provider listings on Psychology Today with a mixture of intense feelings: overwhelm, anxiety, skepticism or even despair. Whether you're new to psychotherapy or experienced, it can be difficult to accept that help is needed and to clarify exactly what you're looking for in a provider.

OCD doesn't feel like anxiety — it feels like responsibility.
I specialize in treating OCD using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Our work focuses on changing how you respond to intrusive thoughts, so they lose their power. Rather than trying to think your way out of the cycle, we build your capacity to tolerate uncertainty so the thoughts stop running the show.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
