Help is hard to ask for, especially when it comes to mental health. Let me assure you of a few things: My approach is strength-centered and collaborative. You are the expert on your life and experience. I can help you with understanding and managing anxiety, depression, and healing from past trauma. Together we can work on building emotional intelligence, distress tolerance, and communication skills. For couples , I use Gottman-informed education and interventions. As a non-binary Butch person, I enjoy working with people in learning more about and affirming their sexuality and gender. You don’t have to do this alone.

You’ve been looking for the right therapist; you want a good fit, someone who you don’t have to explain the basics of what it means to be gay, trans, or another part of the LGBTQ community. Life threw you into adulthood without a manual. You dread the judgement of people for the ways your relationship (s) look. Your family continues to affect the way you live your life, and their beliefs are holding you back from living a life that is genuine, joyful and unique. You want someone who understands living in the crossroads of being a person of color, and being queer. You’re anxious, you’re depressed, you need someone to just listen.

understands that it is important to have the guidance and support needed before you get married and during marriage to assist you with honoring your vows and building a relationship that your vows easily permeate.
The decision to unite with someone for the rest of your life is one of the most important decisions you will ever make in your life. With this decision you formally and sincerely promise to have and to hold this person, from the day you decide to wed, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish until death do you part (according to God's Holy Ordinance. The vow is beautiful and perfect in the eyes of God however carrying out these promises are not always easy. And if I'm being honest, we can find ourselves not knowing what the hell we are doing to maintain our once happy union.

“The quality of our life depends on the quality of our relationships.” -Esther Perel/ Healthy, loving, and respectful relationships are easier said than done. Unresolved trauma can skew our understanding of a healthy dynamic in our relationships with ourselves and others. I collaborate with individuals and couples in creating therapeutic goals and a plan to help process their struggles with sexual traumas, partner abuse, child abuse, and other traumas. I utilize the therapy tools of EMDR (emdria.org), Trauma Exposure Therapy, Psychodynamic therapy using timelines, and Trauma-Focused CBT.

Accepting clients as of May 2023. I work with couples on topics such as polyamory, sexuality, infidelity, codependency, and addiction. As a therapist, I value honesty above all else because if we're not honest about what is bothering us, we can't fix it - that means that we have to sometimes be truthful to ourselves or sometimes be truthful to our partners. I am extremely direct as a therapist, I use plenty of dark humor, and my clients often describe me as the most effective therapist they have worked with. Please feel free to email me for a consultation and check out my website for group therapy I offer for addiction/codependency!

I focus on developing a trusting relationship that enables you to feel safe during your healing process.
“COVID 19” Even the word makes us anxious; it immediately produces fear, anxiety, sadness, loneliness and grief. We are living in a strange time, a kind of bubble we’ve created to protect ourselves against an invisible enemy. We wear masks; we limit our contact with friends and family. We don’t go to shows, galleries, concerts or clubs. We have learned to adapt to very difficult and strange circumstances. Check my website for more information and suggestions on some of the best ways to cope. Here are a few suggestions: yoga, meditation, walking, staying connected by phone or social networks, keep a gratitude journal. Seek Help!

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
