I come from a background of working with individuals who have experienced significant
trauma
, substance abuse struggles, depression, and many other curveballs life throws.
I help men & women find freedom through emotional healing. As a therapist, I know that genuine connection is a powerful healer. I know what it's like to feel like no one understands what you are going through, to care for everyone else while your story gets lost in the background. Unfortunately, I had some really "not so good" experiences with therapists, which lit a fire in me to become for others what I wish I had. You deserve the same love and care that you give others. Most of the time the healing journey ends with a newfound relationship with yourself building the bridge to who you want to be.

I am a Certified
Trauma
Professional which means I have training in helping people resolve past hurt and how it keeps them stuck today.
I am licensed as both a Marriage and Family Therapist and a Clinical Psychologist. I started practicing psychotherapy in 1993 and I love the work so much I have never done anything else. In today's world we don't take the time to listen and get to know each other. We start to suffer from depression and anxiety because we are so disconnected from each other and ourselves. I am trying to change that with one person at a time. I invite you to visit me and see how we can create a journey of healing together.

I have helped guide adults, and adolescents from various cultural backgrounds, who struggle with various challenges in life, such as disturbances from childhood,
trauma
, anxiety, and depression.
Hi, and thank you for visiting my page. One of my passions in life is to help guide the individuals I work with, to be the best that they can be. My first experience with therapy was my own, and with that, I found that therapy works best when we are honest with ourselves, and the person you choose to help guide your path of healing and awareness, from what's holding you back from your best life. Life can be challenging at times, you may struggle with inner conflict, uncertainty, and confusion as to what step you should take next in life. To make lasting changes within yourself, to attain your lifelong goals & dreams.

My specialties are in the care and treatment of teens and adults struggling with mood and anxiety disorders,
PTSD
, and eating disorders.
Sometimes the world just feels like too much--too much work, too much stress, too much pain, too much numbness. There can be so much in your day to day that it's hard to figure out where to start, let alone where to go. Therapy can be a wonderful space to figure out what’s not working, and give you the tools you need to make changes to attain the life that you really want, and be the person that you really want to be.

I specialize in working with hard-working, motivated adults who are struggling with stuck feelings left by
trauma
to stop the endless cycle of self-doubt, self-sabotage and lack of emotional control and begin to discover who they are and find their self-worth.
You are doing so much for others that you barely have any time for yourself. You feel responsible for the way others feel. In all of this over-doing and over-caretaking, you have begun to forget who you are. Or, you may find that you’ve been taken hostage by your emotions. It’s really difficult to shake off certain feelings. Self-medicating or other addictive behaviors are the only ways that seem to help with coping, but it feels like it’s just created more problems in your life. The traumas from your past have caught up with you and you don’t know when you’re ever going to feel happy or at ease again.

When we are exposed to
trauma
at an early age, it can seriously impact how we feel about ourselves and our relationships with others.
Trauma
can also profoundly affect whether we feel this is a safe world and can contribute to depression, anxiety, and relational/familial issues. My practice is from a strengths-based,
trauma
-informed perspective with a non-judgmental framework. I aim to understand clients’ internal responses and to provide more options for emotional regulation and problem-solving.

I am in awe every day of the tremendous strength and courage my clients exhibit when they make the decision to begin therapy. Clients I work with are ready to do the difficult work involved in healing past
trauma
and childhood wounds. I work with clients who are eager to engage in learning new coping skills in therapy and are actively practicing these skills outside of therapy. Many of them even engage in their own self-study with recommended "homework" and reading material. I work with teens, young adults, mature adults, couples & families. I offer families/couples new skills to improve communication and relationships.

Life can feel impossible to avoid struggling and we often don't feel we have the skills to cope successfully through. Unfortunately, sometimes we don't have all the resources we need for a given situation. Parts of us take on desperate roles trying to help us to survive. This might look like anxiety, depression,
PTSD
, addiction, and relationship/family issues. I aim to help you process unresolved issues and feelings and find solutions.

My therapeutic approach mainly focuses on helping my clients identify their strengths to help alleviate anxiety, depression, and
trauma
. I am a firm believer that our childhood experiences contribute to our beliefs, behavioral patterns, and selecting a romantic partner. Therapy is a process! To allow ourselves to be intimate and vulnerable with someone about our experiences and
trauma
can be daunting. As a therapist, it is my goal to help validate, create a safe environment and help understand aspects of lived experiences.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
