In essence, I help you rewrite your
life
story.
For the past 40 years, I worked in Australia and America as a therapist and educator. I was Director of the Family Therapy Program in Sydney and later worked with the Family Institute at Northwestern University. I help individuals overcome anxiety and depression & help couples improve communication, resolve conflict, and increase love & intimacy. Since I am also a writer, I frame individuals as the main characters in a story, called to face adversity, transform their lives, and achieve personal happiness. I am the author of "The Roadmap Home: Your GPS to Inner Peace" & co-author of "Fighting for Love: Turn Conflict into Intimacy."

Everyone deserves to feel supported and guided throughout their
life
.
I specialize in supporting teens, Gen Z, and Millennial women with creating a new relationship with the self through a holistic lens using self-compassion and somatic practices. Does any of this sound familiar? - You feel overwhelmed by emotion at times and struggle with self-regulating. Your mind is constantly turning, trying to figure out the what-ifs of
life
. You're sensitive to the world around you and the energy of others. You feel disconnected from your body and hold tension when you are stressed. You are trying to figure out who you are and what makes you happy. Turning inward is an act of strength and you deserve support.

Release your negative thinking and you change your
life
--forever!.
Hello and welcome to my practice. I am a licensed psychologist with over 44 years of experience practicing psychotherapy with individuals and couples. When you are feeling troubled and don't know where to turn, therapy can be a safe place to work through your difficulties and concerns. Many of us would rather try to deal with problems on our own; but when you are feeling "stuck" or when problems keep repeating, an objective person who knows how to listen can help you through a difficult time.

How we think about our experiences can greatly influence how we feel and act. When we feel our quality of
life
is poor, anxiety, worry and depression can emerge. In some cases, biological factors can also lead to alterations in mood. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) have been found to be helpful in assisting individuals to alter their behaviors, and restore their quality of
life
. I subscribe to CBT and IPT and provide treatment to assist individuals in developing better strategies to improve their ability to manage the challenges
life
presents.

Change is hard! Isn't the alternative worse?
Life
can be very challenging and demanding. It can even seem extremely overwhelming. The good news is you don't have to feel alone. Seeking help is a sign of courage and strength, which I foster in practice. I offer assistance in finding ways to manage your stressors in ways that work for you. Improving self-esteem, learning to cope, and managing emotions is all possible. I won’t promise it will be easy (therapy rarely is). But I can promise you, it will be worth it.

In
life
, we often feel overwhelmed, out of control, or caught in patterns we can’t seem to escape. We may be affected by trauma, feel stuck in relationships, get caught in self defeating thought spirals or find that we are sabotaging ourselves. Many of us move around the world carrying secret struggles with negative thoughts, emotions, or urges, which disturb our day-to-day
life
and make waves in our relationships. Changing
life
circumstances-both positive (like the birth of a child) or negative (loss of a job)-can cause anxiety and strife.

Life Coaching Therapists
What can I expect from life coaching?
Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.
Can a life coach help treat anxiety?
Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.
Can life coaching be done online?
Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.
How long does life coaching last?
Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
