I have extensive experience treating relationship issues, anxiety, depression, couples issues, all forms of addiction issues, substance abuse, childhood trauma, codependency, issues related to growing up in a dysfunctional family and self esteem difficulties.
Feeling overly stressed, disconnected in relationships or just going through a down turn can be very uncomfortable. If you are struggling to figure your situation on your own, I can provide hope, connection and strategies to address current stressors as well as behavior patterns that may have started in childhood. Seeking a therapist thats a good fit for you can be stressful as well. Great things can happen when you do find the right fit. This is very important to me. As an experienced therapist and relationship expert, I help others discover what is possible.
Life can bring us many challenges, at times leaving us feeling overwhelmed and out of balance. As you progress in therapy, you find that you're less anxious, sad or angry, more confident, and better able to cope with setbacks. Most importantly, you begin to accept yourself. “When we're self-accepting, we're in better spirits, more flexible and more resilient.”

Areas of focus and experience include: co-occurring disorders (trauma, depression, anxiety, and chemical/alcohol use disorder), individual, couples and family counseling, child play therapy, process/psycho-education groups, indigenous and inter-generational issues, guided meditation/hypnosis.
If you were to put together a list of the most important people in your life, who would be on your list? We all live in relationships and when we are not in harmony with them this can cause anxiety, sadness, confusion, low self esteem and worth. Our core relationship is with our self. I invite you to take the journey inward, to explore, and learn how to bring out your greatest potential.

I specialize in supporting teens, Gen Z, and Millennial women with creating a new relationship with the self through a holistic lens using self-compassion and somatic practices. Does any of this sound familiar? - You feel overwhelmed by emotion at times and struggle with self-regulating. Your mind is constantly turning, trying to figure out the what-ifs of life. You're sensitive to the world around you and the energy of others. You feel disconnected from your body and hold tension when you are stressed. You are trying to figure out who you are and what makes you happy. Turning inward is an act of strength and you deserve support.

I am Board Certified in Clinical Psychology (ABPP) and have over 35 years of experience working with adults and couples .
How we think about our experiences can greatly influence how we feel and act. When we feel our quality of life is poor, anxiety, worry and depression can emerge. In some cases, biological factors can also lead to alterations in mood. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) have been found to be helpful in assisting individuals to alter their behaviors, and restore their quality of life. I subscribe to CBT and IPT and provide treatment to assist individuals in developing better strategies to improve their ability to manage the challenges life presents.

Relationships and Life Transitions can be challenging. Successful partnerships don't happen by accident. DISCOVER individual blocks to become the partner you want to be. CREATE a relationship that brings out the best in you. CHANGE unproductive thoughts and behaviors that keep you stuck. I am skilled at helping you learn and practice skills which can lead to a more fulfilled personal and professional life. I also work with "mixed agenda", couples ( couples on the verge of a break up), who need short term counseling to help them make their own decision about what their next steps will be.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
