depression
, grief/loss, anger management, bipolar, self-esteem, communication skills & trauma recovery.
Having a healthy relationship with yourself and others is not always easy. There are times when it can be challenging to embody the positive support you need, rather than that inner critic that is not always helpful. I believe that improving your sense of self-worth and self-esteem through self-acceptance, compassion and appropriate boundaries, with yourself and others, is necessary to maintaining healthy relationships and imperative when working through life stressors that impact your quality of life.

Do you often ask yourself, is this the best life has to offer? Maybe you’re feeling anxious,
depressed
, or coping with an addiction. Perhaps you are quick tempered or irritable at work or home. Are you feeling as if you’re losing your teen or are you struggling to connect with your aging parents? Could it be the sense of safety and love you once felt for your partner is no longer there? Or maybe you’re not sure what’s wrong – you’re just sick of feeling tired and empty all the time. I'm Eric. Let us work together to find the answers to these and many other questions that may have caused you to lose hope.

The resiliency of people is always something that inspires me. It is my belief that each person is unique and has the potential to grow and change, all it takes is the desire and the commitment to do the work. As a therapist I have had the privilege of walking along side people and see these changes first hand, whether it's through an awaking of insight, breaking patterns of behavior, lifting of anxiety/
depression
, or deepening of relationships. Therapy is an intimate, empowering experience, and it is truly a beautiful thing to see people meet their goals and lead the lives they always wanted. Lets begin that journey together today.

Your son is definitely going through something. You're worried about the pre-teen, teen, or young adult in your life. He seems down,
depressed
, discouraged, but then just tunes out the world with his screens. He's anxious, dealing with pressure, school, friends, & he needs to face his struggles. He won't open up much to you or other family members. He seems to be isolating more - you think he might have some addiction going on. He's not as interested in his usual activities. You're basically concerned about the direction of his life. What you really want is your kid to be happy, motivated, and moving in a good direction.

I specialize in healing traumas (dormant and current) that have a negative impact on lives and manifest through anxiety,
depression
and other symptoms.
When you are suffering, personally, within your family or in a relationship, I offer therapy that goes beyond just talking about the past. I use an educational and directive Mind/Body/Spirit approach that assesses your current life situation, formulates new goals and gives you tools to use every day. I make therapy comfortable, positive and aim to get results as quickly as possible. I see myself as an active facilitator in a joint process, not an expert-patient relationship. I believe that everyone intrinsically knows what they need, it's my job to assist you on that journey.

I work with relationship issues, anxiety,
depression
, life transitions, grief/bereavement.
I believe good therapy creates change, resolves issues, heals emotional wounds, and expands our capacity to cope with life's challenges. Most people come into therapy in pain or in some sort of crises. I work with clients to help them see this crises as an opportunity for personal growth and healing. My style is warm, engaging and direct. I believe that good therapy produces cognitive, behavioral and emotional changes. I work creatively with the strengths of the individual to build a strong, collaborative alliance to help reach stated goals of treatment.

What is the goal of therapy for depression?
Therapy for depression has several major goals. One is to relieve the mental pain of depression, which distorts feeling and thinking so that sufferers cannot see beyond their current state of mind or envision feeling better. Another is to give people the mental tools to recognize and correct the kinds of distorted thinking that turn a problem into a catastrophe and lead to despair. Therapy also teaches people how to process negative emotions in constructive ways, so they have more control over their own emotional reactivity. And it helps people regain the ability to see themselves positively, the motivation to do things, and the capacity for pleasure.
What happens in therapy for depression?
Perhaps most important, no matter the type of therapy, patients form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Patients learn to identify and to challenge their own erroneous beliefs and thoughts that amplify the effects of negative experiences. They learn to identify situations in which they are especially vulnerable. And they learn new patterns of thinking and behaving. They may be given “homework” assignments in which they practice their developing skills. In addition, good therapists regularly monitor patients to assess whether and how much the condition is improving.
What therapy types help with depression?
Several types of short-term therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) helps clients challenge their negative thoughts and beliefs, learn new behavioral strategies, and curb reactivity to distressing situations. Behavioral activation (BA) is a form of therapy often used in conjunction with CBT; it focuses on engagement in rewarding activity as a pathway to changing negative feelings and disturbed mood. Another widely used approach is interpersonal therapy (IPT), which targets the social difficulties that both give rise to and get exacerbated by depression. Therapists may combine approaches as needed.
Can therapy for depression be done online?
Studies have found that online therapy can be highly effective for treating depression, although it may be more challenging to build a good therapist-patient alliance on screen than in person—at least at first. However, online therapy can offer considerable advantages. Accessibility and convenience are tops among them. Some people actually find it easier to talk about problems online than in person. While online therapy typically limits visibility of facial expression and body gestures that give important nonverbal cues to a patient’s state of mind, it can give therapists a glimpse into a patient’s world and life, providing information that can be highly useful in guiding therapy.
How effective is therapy for depression?
Many studies show that therapy is highly effective provided that patients complete the prescribed course of therapy, commonly 16 to 20 sessions. Over the long term, it is more effective than medication and the effects are more enduring. As a result, psychotherapy has the power not just to relieve current suffering but to prevent future episodes of the disorder. Therapy reverses the dysfunction in neural circuitry that disposes individuals to a negative view of themselves, the world, and their future and they acquire coping techniques, problem-solving skills, and understanding of their own vulnerabilities that are useful over the course of a lifetime.
