My focus as a psychotherapist is to help each individual achieve their full potential. Whether there is a current challenge or a broader goal to create change, the biggest indicator of success in therapy is the rapport one has with their therapist. I provide a safe environment in my office, one of support, honesty, trust and free of judgment. This is essential to the therapeutic process and in the client's ability to feel safe and understood. I assist and help guide my clients in life transformations, to gain insight and to live a better, more meaningful life.

Life can be tough and struggling through challenges alone can be even tougher. You may be experiencing high levels of stress, depression or anxiety . You may even be suffering from panic attacks. There is hope, however, and EMDR therapy can help identify unwanted patterns, triggers and behaviors in order to create positive change. We do not have to be defined by our negative experiences or past traumas. We all have the power within us to make positive changes in our lives and I want to help you do just that! I am also a certified Bikram Yoga instructor and truly believe in the importance of the Mind/Body connection.

You try to be a good person and want more from life yet sometimes it feels like you're just going through the motions. You're functioning, but there's always that voice—the one telling you that you’re not good enough, don’t deserve love, peace or happiness, deserved what happened to you, and that this is it in life. Your unresolved “stuff”– the anxiety , self-doubt, trauma–keeps popping up at the most inconvenient time and causing you trouble. Relationships are hard. You can’t really relax. Anger eats at you. You’re tired of feeling “stuck" and uneasy in your own mind and body. What you really want is to finally feel at peace.

You’re tired of feeling ruled by this anxiety or uncertainty. From the outside, your life looks good—you have a lot to be proud of. But something still isn’t right: you might feel anxious, have trouble making decisions, or unfulfilled and disconnected in your relationships. You’re constantly criticizing yourself, second-guessing that text message you sent or what others are thinking of you. Somehow, it’s like life is happening to you, instead of you being the one in control. And although you’ve tried to address this on your own through things like journaling or mindfulness practices, you still just don’t feel like yourself.

Is your relationship suffering despite all your effort to make it work? I help individuals and couples struggling with addiction, infidelity and communication. It is difficult to build back the trust in yourself and in others. My role is helping you navigate a way out of the emotional maze that can feel lonely and hopeless. Feeling stuck leads to depression and anxiety that affects the quality of your life and your active participation in your happiness. This is the point when you socialize less, ignore your self care, drink more, and find life and relationships mundane. You don't have to do it alone. Call, let's talk.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
