I specialize in working with queer identified people, ADHD, HSP, OCD, and Autism. Being in our bodies, and being in our world can be very difficult. This is especially true when you're a highly sensitive person. My typical client often hears they’re “being too much" while also dreading the feeling of “not being enough". I'm here to take a deep dive into what's making you feel like you’re "too much". I’m here to support you in connecting with your inherent worth. Typically, my client's goals are to improve emotional regulation, improve relationships, and feel more in control of their neurodivergence.

While technology has given us gifts of knowledge and accessibility, we are becoming increasingly disconnected. More and more, people are feeling isolated, lonely, dissatisfied with their lives, and disconnected from themselves and others. Sometimes, even just feeling our feelings can be hard work, but I think for many of us, we understand where the feeling comes from, but are ready to let it go and grow beyond it. Let's work as a team in accepting the here and now, to bring more joy into your life. Together, we can listen and nurture your authentic self to help you heal and grow through somatic, embodied psychotherapy.

Welcome! Are you feeling tired of the patterns and old stories that impact the development of your vitality and the best version of your life? Does your sense of self feel fractured? Does your body seem to mirror the internal negative thought patterns that seem to block you creating the life you want to live? Do you feel like there are moments that you cannot imagine living in the internal chaos another moment? I am inspired and honored to work with adults who are motivated to heal and release the negative internal stories, especially from trauma, that have dictated their behavior in order to create their own life worth living.

By the time a child with ADHD reaches the age of ten years old they have received over 20,000 additional messages of criticism than their non-ADHD counterparts. These stressors stack up over time and can build to a state of complex trauma by the time we reach young adulthood. What have these stressors done to dim your light? Living with neurocomplexities like ADHD can cause us to expend massive amounts of emotional energy. Coping mechanisms crop up to try to shield us from shame and failure, and then end up becoming a trap that makes it difficult to imagine a future where your true personality can exist too.

Hi there! I’m Dr. Lacey, a licensed psychologist in Walnut Creek offering in-person therapy and virtual sessions throughout California. I work with teens, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, identity, trauma, and relationship patterns that have us feeling stuck. Therapy with me isn’t about “fixing” anything —it’s about getting curious, getting real with yourself, and building emotional flexibility and awareness. My approach blends evidence-based care with warmth, humor, and the space for both of us to be humans. I help clients untangle emotions, build self-trust, and reconnect with what actually matters to you.

I work with people who have experienced trauma and are seeking relief through an integrative, relational, and somatic approach. Drawing on somatic techniques such as EMDR and Somatic Experiencing, I support my clients in connecting to the felt sense of their bodies as a source of information. I believe that a gentle inquiry into the body’s felt sense allows us to safely integrate the past into the present and clarify what’s true for us in any given moment.

You’ve already done therapy and understand your patterns—but still feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, overthinking, or intrusive thoughts. You can see what’s happening, but something deeper isn’t shifting. Your system doesn’t fully settle. You might replay conversations, get pulled into “what if” spirals, or feel a quiet, constant sense of unease. Even when you tell yourself you’re okay, your body holds onto something else—leaving you tired, on edge, and ready for change that actually reaches beneath the surface.

I work with teens, adults, and couples navigating relationship complexity, bridging multiple cultures, and identity questions. Whether you're processing a breakup, opening a relationship, coming out, or figuring out who you are beyond what your family expected, therapy here is about building capacity for what you're actually living, not what's expected of you or what you're supposed to want.

My history has enabled me to understand and support people with complex backgrounds. I come from a multi-cultural blended family whose individuals differed tremendously. At a young age I recognized the complexity of human identity as I tried to navigate being part of two cultures when I became an immigrant at the age of 14. Now as a therapist, I have gained knowledge and experience to support children and families in learning how to understand and communicate with one another, as well as individuals and couples going through difficult life stages. I hope to be part of your journey of growth and wellness.

Are you ready to move beyond the old, painful stories and experiences that keep showing up? Maybe you understand why you feel the way you do and yet the thoughts, feelings and patterns persist. This is where I can help. I believe in the intrinsic strength of all people and trust that our internal systems naturally lean towards healing. That said, sometimes our experiences, upbringings—even our biology or physical bodies—can feel like they are creating barriers to living the life we want. I will partner with you as you look at and acknowledge all parts of your story so that you get to decide the narrative that drives it.

Many people want to change some aspect of their life: to feel more joy, less anxiety, more freedom to act, or to say no! To find their authentic voice in relationships. To stop hating themselves. I offer a safe, welcoming environment for clients to explore their worlds. With equal parts gentleness and honesty, we discover their strategies and limitations. Through this clear seeing, choice emerges. We then work to stablize the tender, newer Self. I think of this process as cultivating "self-agency." It's one of the most important things we can do to increase our vitality and happiness.

Bisexual Therapists
What is bisexual-affirming therapy?
Bisexual-affirming therapy is a type of mental health support that fully affirms and reflects a client’s bisexual identity. It is rooted in acceptance and does not attempt to change or question an individual’s orientation. In this type of therapy, clients work with a therapist who understands the unique experiences of bisexual people. This support is especially important, as research shows that bisexual individuals face higher rates of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation compared to other groups. Bisexual-affirming therapy acknowledges that bisexual individuals may encounter specific stressors—such as invalidation, relationship challenges, and minority stress—that require specialized understanding and intervention. Many therapists also provide couples therapy for bisexual partners, helping them navigate relationship dynamics, communication challenges, or external stressors that may impact their relationship. While not required, some clients prefer working with bisexual therapists who may bring personal insight to the therapeutic relationship. However, a non-bisexual therapist with strong training and a genuine commitment to affirmation can be equally effective. The most important factor is finding a therapist who understands how identity impacts mental health and can create a space of trust and respect.

What can a bisexual therapist help with?
Bisexual-affirming therapists can provide support across a wide range of concerns relevant to bisexual individuals. Whether through personal or professional experience, they often have specialized knowledge in areas such as the coming out process, navigating stereotypes, and dealing with common stressors. Relationship support is another key area of focus, as bisexual clients may face unique challenge when dating or maintaining relationships across genders. Affirming therapists can also help clients build coping strategies for managing discrimination or stigma. Additionally, many bisexual-affirming therapists can connect clients to other providers or community-based resources—such as bisexual support groups or LGBTQ+ organizations—that offer additional affirming spaces for connection. It's important to note that therapists provide can talk therapy and counseling services but do not prescribe medication—if medication is needed for conditions like depression or anxiety, they will coordinate care with a psychiatrist or primary care physician who can provide psychiatric medication management alongside therapeutic support.

How do I find a bisexual therapist?
The Psychology Today online directory is a helpful tool for finding bisexual-affirming therapists. You can use search filters to identify therapists who specialize in LGBTQ+ care and work specifically with bisexual clients. You can also filter by clinical specialties, therapeutic approaches, accepted insurance, session costs, and languages spoken to find the right fit. During initial consultations or early sessions, ask potential therapists about their specific training in bisexual-affirming care, their experience with LGBTQ+ clients, and their therapeutic approach to identity-related concerns. An effective bisexual-affirming therapist will demonstrate genuine understanding of bisexual experiences, including awareness of the unique challenges facing bisexual individuals. You can also look for credentials or continuing education in areas such as LGBTQ+ mental health, trauma-informed care, and intersectionality.
