For over 15 years I 've had the privilege of working with adults, families,
children
, and adolescents, hearing their stories, helping work through problems, and discover healthier ways of coping.
With all the increased challenges and turmoil in the world today many people have felt increasingly overwhelmed, depressed, or anxious. Others are looking for support as they navigate life changes, want to know how to cope with stress better, or have a desire for improved relationships and communication. Some are seeking help for their
child
who is struggling. If this is you there is hope for change, healing, and growth through therapy. I provide empathic support and assistance in order to identify your personal strengths, heal from past trauma, replace negative patterns that keep you stuck, and learn new ways of coping.

It's not what you thought it would be, and that's okay. Life transitions are hard. As much as we try to prepare ourselves, we can never be fully prepared. However, we can work together to help you embrace the changes and learn to navigate life with a new fresh perspective. And who knows, you might just find that the changes or life transitions you experienced, creates a better version of yourself. I am a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional. I also have an extensive background working with
children
, adolescents and young adults.

I know that there are times when life can be difficult. My deepest professional desire is to give you hope and to let you know that you are not alone. Give me a chance to help and together we can move through the difficult parts of life, so you can experience growth and healing. I have experienced many grief and losses throughout my life from marriage, divorce, raising
children
, empty nesting, grand-babies, and sadly walking through the Hospice process while losing both parents to cancer. I can utilize my pains, struggles and triumphs to encourage you that you CAN do this and there is hope when there feels like there is none.

My greatest strength and professional interest as a therapist is working with adults from an interpersonal, psycho-dynamic perspective assisting men and women to gain insight and understanding of how their early relationships and emotional experiences have influenced behavioral/relational patterns impacting them today. I assist people in making self-determined changes in their lives in the areas of thinking, feeling and behaving: the three primary components of the human being and how each is expressed and manifested in relationship to others. Spirituality is supported and integrated as my clients are personally inclined.

The best word to describe my practice is Integrative or Holistic. I believe that true health and wellness comes from addressing those issues that create imbalance in our lives, either on a physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual level. My style is best described as warm and accepting so that an environment based in understanding rather than judgement is created. From this place, I like to work in partnership with individuals, couples, and/or families, exploring their areas of concern, options for change, and direction toward overall well-being.

Child Therapists
Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.
How long are sessions with child therapists?
Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.
How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?
The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
