My approach is client-centered, strength based. This means that individuals have the internal resources to work through life issues but just need someone to help them access them. I know that there is no single approach that is right for everyone so I work from an eclectic approach utilizing tools from various theoretical models. I offer a warm, accepting, and nurturing environment in which together we will work to gain a better understanding of yourself and make positive choices that will enable you to live your life fully.

Therapy can be scary and costly . It isn’t either in my practice. We all experience change, transition, conflict, work and relational stressors. Many experience trauma and stressors that begin to impact daily functioning. Therapy is a safe place to discuss and explore the current stressors you are facing. I’ll help make this possible in an empathetic and AFFORDABLE environment that fosters growth, and healing. You do the talking and I do the listening, caring and provide the tools to assist you in navigating life’s circumstances. Together we can work to address the personal and or relational stressors impacting your life!

Hi there! Life is an interesting journey filled with many ups and downs, changes, challenges and never ending questions. Perhaps I can be of assistance. I believe that we all need someone to talk and walk with throughout our life journey, a safe person and place we can open up with in ways that we may be unable to with our family and friends. Seeking out and choosing a therapist can be an overwhelming process as you want to be sure to choose the right person to help you. As you begin you may not be sure about where or how to start. I encourage you to ask questions to make sure you feel comfortable with the therapist you choose.

Hello! Welcome! My name is Katherine Baker, LMFT, but you might call me a transformer, a fear buster, a builder of connections and a birther of women power. I help women who want to feel empowered to trust their intuition but feel stuck, powerless to pick themselves up out to the messiness of their lives. I work specifically with women and girls who feel unsafe in their bodies, irritated, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected from their power and have drama filled relationships and they go from relationships, friendships or jobs seeking happiness. Women who have given away all of their personal power because of fear.

Life is shit. Trying to be perfect is exhausting and you wonder who you are anymore. You’re feeling lonely and stressed out to the breaking point. Sleep is difficult if not impossible. Asking for help is f’ing hard because you’re so used to fixing everything yourself. I specialize in helping people to heal and recover from perfectionism, gaslighting and toxic relationships, as well as past events or memories that may still be impacting life in a negative way.

I believe it takes bravery to recognize when we need help, and even more to seek it out. Many are struggling with depression, stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, or even parenting. I want you to know that you are not alone and seeking support is ok. Anxiety, Depression, and even Trauma may not look the same for everyone. After all, like Carl Rogers stated, "The shoe that fits one person may pinch another. " You may even appear motivated, determined, and happy from the outside, but your loud inner critic tells you that you are not good enough, constantly compares yourself to others, is stress, and possibly feeling hopeless.

Do you find yourself saying things like, "I just can't win," "That's just my luck," or explaining away problems because mercury is in retrograde again? Over time, we become convinced that things can't be changed, that we can't heal, and our lives begin to feel like a series of setbacks. Things like trauma, anxiety, depression, failed relationships, and feeling stuck become our constant companions. If this sounds familiar and you are ready to do the work then I want to say that you CAN do this. I have witnessed the miracle of our capacity to heal. You are your best healer and I would be honored to be part of that journey with you.

Who are you? Who or What defines you? Do you find it hard to answer these questions? If so, I can help. People, relationships, and life can leave you questioning your worth. They can leave you wearing labels and identifying yourself based on your experience. The aftermath can look like you not recognizing yourself, feeling invisible, lost, alone, inadequate or silenced. I am here to come along side you to build a genuine, compassionate, and caring relationship that provides a safe place to identify and strip off unwanted labels that have you feeling guilty, ashamed, overwhelmed, useless, hopeless and powerless.

Well, hello there! Deciding to come to therapy can be one of the most challenging things in life, especially during those difficult times when everything seems so heavy. But taking the first step, pursuing care, is the most powerful step. It means you're ready to sit with someone and begin the exploration process of what you're experiencing or going through, whether it's in the past, present, or future. Therapy is an effective place to begin the healing process and create a new way of living life. And finding the right therapist is just as important.

Are you ready for a comeback? I can help you to learn to think more clearly and feel differently about yourself, other people, and events in your life. Through my own personal journey and in my work as a psychotherapist I have found that when we are faced with obstacles it is an opportunity for learning. Where there is pain, there is hope. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I work from a strength-based and client center approach helping others witness transformation and healing despite their past and present emotional issues.

How can I find a therapist in Kings County?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
