For ADHD/Autism Assessments, we meet in person for one of the testing sessions.
Are you struggling with miscommunication, distractions, impulsivity, sensory overwhelm, or executive functioning challenges at work or in relationships? Is it harder to cope now that you have kids, or aging parents? Do you wonder if it’s anxiety, depression, trauma, and/or neurodivergence? I often see people who, despite their successes, still find it hard to shake a negative self-image after growing up being seen as weird, gifted or unconventional. Many folks find me when they are seeking a trauma-informed, queer-friendly, and neurodiverse-sensitive therapist who can help them feel better without pathologizing their differences.

I work with adults who are struggling with mental health and need a space to be heard, understood and want to develop the skills to "hear" their inner voice and move through their lives in a grounded way that can honor their choices. Many of my clients experience emotional, psychological or physical stressors and dx with CPTSD, depression, anxiety, or bipolar. and struggle in relationships. I help them develop a sense of safety in their bodies, reclaim their voice, and learn to love and value themselves. "AI free zone" is available as an option.

When something feels off, and you're not sure where to turn, a comprehensive evaluation can bring real clarity.
You're a parent with questions about your child that haven't been fully answered yet. Maybe they're struggling in school, but maybe it's more than that - social challenges, emotional overwhelm, a nagging sense that something doesn't quite fit. You might be wondering about ADHD, dyslexia, autism, or a learning difference, and you want clarity. Perhaps you seek an IQ test for a private school. I provide psychoeducational assessments for children, teens, young adults, and college students (ages 4–22) to help individuals and families finally understand how they're wired, and what they need to flourish.

I am a licensed counseling psychologist with extensive training and experience in psychotherapy, assessment, and psychology research. I am aware of the multiple, complex influences on a client’s mental health (biology, past history, trauma, emotions, thoughts, self-image, relationships), and am ready to work within all of these modalities depending on each client's needs. I don't have ideal clients - I only have imperfect individuals who want something better for their lives and are willing to be vulnerable with someone they trust.

Testing and Evaluation Therapists
What is a psychological evaluation?
A psychological evaluation is a test or assessment most commonly administered by a trained psychologist that is intended to be used in the diagnosis of specific psychological conditions, such as ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, dementia or Alzheimer's, and learning disabilities. Psychological evaluations can help inform future treatment decisions and help direct clients to professionals and resources that may be most helpful, such as potential therapy options or additional school supports.

Can psychological evaluations be done on individuals of any age group?
Psychological evaluations are conducted on individuals of all ages and can be beneficial to individuals across the lifespan. However, specific types of evaluations may be most frequently conducted on individuals of certain age groups. For instance, ADHD or learning disability testing is often conducted in children ages 4-12--the period of time when ADHD symptoms most commonly emerge. In contrast, cognitive functioning assessments, such as those conducted to diagnose dementia, are most commonly conducted in elderly individuals. Clients should ensure that the psychologist they are seeing has specific expertise in conducting evaluations in their age group to ensure they receive a correct diagnosis.

How long does a psychological evaluation take?
Psychological evaluations vary in length depending on the test being administered and the goals of the evaluation; however, most evaluations are 2-4 hours in length. Some evaluations may take as long as 8 hours but can often be spread across multiple days. In some cases, clients will also attend an intake session or interview, which can help the psychologist assess client functioning outside of the testing environment.

How should I prepare for a psychological test and evaluation?
Individuals do not need to prepare for psychological tests or evaluations in most cases, as they are intended to measure a client's baseline psychological status without test-specific preparation. However, clients may want to brainstorm a list of questions for their psychologist about any tests they are receiving prior to the assessment, including what potential outcomes may mean for what next steps the client should take.
