I feel honored to provide an environment where the inner life can emerge. People seek therapy at a vulnerable time in their lives. I offer a warmly related environment where suffering can be approached gently, and new possibilities can emerge.

Often, much of the suffering a person experiences comes from difficulties in relationships; with others and with oneself. With compassion and understanding, I can help you explore what gets in the way of having satisfying relationships. As part of that process, we can look at ways to communicate more effectively. I have special interest and experience in working with people from different cultural backgrounds, of mixed cultural backgrounds, or in cross-cultural relationships. I have worked with many clients who are adult children of alcoholics, and understand the challenges of such an upbringing. I work with individual adults and couples.

I am currently providing telehealth Hippaa-compliant videoconferencing! We each have the tools within ourselves to make it possible to improve our lives. At times, however, we may be so overwhelmed with difficult circumstances, relationships, or transitions, that we want help from a professional. I have worked with individuals, couples and families who struggle with a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, marital and family conflicts, food and substance use. I tend to see many adults, as well as adolescents who mainly suffer with anxiety-related problems. I have a positive and respectful attitude.

In-person in CA and online for residents of CA and AZ.
Are you struggling with miscommunication, distractions, impulsivity, sensory overwhelm, or executive functioning challenges at work or in relationships? Is it harder to cope now that you have kids, or aging parents? Do you wonder if it’s anxiety, depression, trauma, and/or neurodivergence? I often see people who, despite their successes, still find it hard to shake a negative self-image after growing up being seen as weird, gifted or unconventional. Many folks find me when they are seeking a trauma-informed, queer-friendly, and neurodiverse-sensitive therapist who can help them feel better without pathologizing their differences.

You may be someone who’s been carrying a lot for a long time, supporting others while feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of yourself. Anxiety, stress, depression, past experiences, or relationship patterns may keep resurfacing. You might be navigating identity, parenting, life transitions, or a sense that something needs to change. You’re not looking for quick fixes, but for understanding, depth, and a space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with yourself and others in a more grounded, authentic way.

I treat couples and individuals, specializing in sexual and relationship problems, sexual abuse and PTSD, as well as depression and anxiety. I know that it takes courage to make that first phone call. Having empathy and even a sense of humor, when appropriate, helps my clients with this initial step. I work together with my clients to identify and change dysfunctional patterns of thought and behavior. My style is warm, direct, and interactive.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
