I tend to see many adults, as well as adolescents who mainly suffer with anxiety-related problems.
Coping skills, relaxation and mindfulness are my emphasis. As you become more conscious of your behaviors and feelings, you will gain self-awareness, and this will make change possible for you. It is common for me to provide homework between our sessions. We will work collaboratively to reach your goals in therapy.

You may be someone who’s been carrying a lot for a long time, supporting others while feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of yourself. Anxiety, stress, depression, past experiences, or relationship patterns may keep resurfacing. You might be navigating identity, parenting, life transitions, or a sense that something needs to change. You’re not looking for quick fixes, but for understanding, depth, and a space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with yourself and others in a more grounded, authentic way.

Connection is at the heart of the work—but with older children, teens, and adults, that connection may look a little different.
My practice incorporates creative and expressive approaches—such as art and other experiential techniques—alongside developmentally appropriate talk therapy to help clients navigate complex situations. These approaches give each person a chance to tell their stories their way, so they can work through experiences in a safe and non-threatening environment.

While it is easier now to find psychological support, finding the right person to work with is as important as ever. While working with me you will be received in a warm, non-judgmental, and curiosity filled environment. I also offer comprehensive nuanced ADHD and Autism assessments for adults and teens.
Are you struggling with miscommunication, distractions, impulsivity, sensory overwhelm, or executive functioning challenges at work or in relationships? Is it harder to cope now that you have kids, or aging parents? Do you wonder if it’s anxiety, depression, trauma, and/or neurodivergence? I often see people who, despite their successes, still find it hard to shake a negative self-image after growing up being seen as weird, gifted or unconventional. Many folks find me when they are seeking a trauma-informed, queer-friendly, and neurodiverse-sensitive therapist who can help them feel better without pathologizing their differences.

Welcome! I’m glad you’re here and appreciate that it can take a lot to start the process of finding support. I believe we all have the capacity to experience satisfaction, fulfillment, and joy in our lives. Let's explore the barriers to these things- both internally and externally, increase self understanding, and develop coping skills for the challenges you face. Life can be hard and we don’t always get to choose our circumstances but we can try to find ways to get through the best we can. I use a holistic approach with a backdrop of trauma focused, racial and social justice informed, and compassionate care.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
