I specialize in EFT and work from a process-oriented
Attachment-Based
framework to help people understand their behaviors, emotions, and ways of relating.
Most of us weren’t taught about emotions – how to understand them nor how to manage them. But emotions follow us through our whole life and ultimately play a role in how we relate to ourselves and to other people. When we don't learn to understand, respond to, and care for our emotions in a healthy way, we have a harder time in adulthood relating to other people, building safe relationships, and feeling secure in our decisions.

My therapeutic approach mainly focuses on helping my clients identify their strengths to help alleviate anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am a firm believer that our childhood experiences contribute to our beliefs, behavioral patterns, and selecting a romantic partner. Therapy is a process! To allow ourselves to be intimate and vulnerable with someone about our experiences and trauma can be daunting. As a therapist, it is my goal to help validate, create a safe environment and help understand aspects of lived experiences.

My work is
attachment-based
, depth-oriented, and trauma-informed.
Finding a therapist as a therapist can be so challenging. You need someone who understands the nuances of countertransference, imposter syndrome, burnout, or personal mental health issues- without feeling like you're 'talking shop' or just getting another flavor of supervision. You're also looking for someone who can offer true depth within each session. I balance providing a compassionate space while also impacting you to think and act differently in your daily life. All change is hard, but the therapeutic relationship can set a critical foundation for feeling secure in making those changes.

approaches to therapy (including those involving mentalization). I specialize in anxiety, trauma, eating/weight, or relationship issues, and adopt an individualized, culturally sensitive approach with each client. I view therapy as an opportunity for the client to share, to learn, and to grow through a close connection.

Welcome! I am a psychotherapist striving to deliver high-quality therapy that is holistic and tailored to you. My priority is providing a safe and comfortable therapeutic relationship. This foundation is the groundwork that allows my clients to take risks in therapy and discuss what is really getting in the way of the life they want to lead. Therapy with me means going beyond the surface of thoughts and behaviors to access underlying emotions that are often at the root of feeling stuck. As an
attachment-based
therapist, I help my clients explore their relationships and their emotional and behavioral patterns.

Sometimes it helps to talk about life's struggles and pain with someone who listens and understands. Sometimes we have become distant from the people most important to us and need help repairing relationships. Sometimes the people we needed to care for us have hurt us and we need help healing. Sometimes we have done things we regret and need help moving forward. Everyone desires to be known and accepted, but sometimes things happen to cause us to withdraw and give up on connecting with others. I would like to help you find healing, hope, and connection in your life.

Since 2016, I have worked with a variety of populations in different clinical settings. Through my diverse experiences, I have come to appreciate the many backgrounds, stories and struggles that each client brings to therapy. My eclectic approach values that therapy is not a “one-size-fits-all” process. I am committed to understanding who you are, how you got here and where you want to be, so that I can tailor our sessions to meet your specific needs. I creatively integrate various treatment modalities including client-centered, mindfulness, CBT, and
attachment-based
therapy.

I believe the therapy process involves forming a relationship with someone who you can share with and trust. A third party who wont judge you, or share/gossip your most intimate secrets or life struggles with others. It's nice having friends and or family to share with, but that isn't always an option, nor is it always safe. I provide my clients with an environment free from judgement where you can let your guard down, vent, share and just be you. Therapy doesn't mean there's something wrong with you, it means you're ready to grow and better understand yourself, others and hopefully life. Isn't that what we're all striving for?

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
