You see yourself in the mirror and wonder when the joy left your face. Somedays it's even hard to recognize yourself. Perhaps you've become preoccupied with past wounds and don't have any energy left for today. Or maybe nervousness and worry have crept in and overshadowed everything else. Whether it's regret about yesterday, not feeling fully alive right now, or anxiety about tomorrow -- you're not living the life you imagined for yourself.

I have had the privilege to work with individuals with generational trauma, grief,
ADHD
, and relational/familial issues.
When we are exposed to trauma at an early age, it can seriously impact how we feel about ourselves and our relationships with others. Trauma can also profoundly affect whether we feel this is a safe world and can contribute to depression, anxiety, and relational/familial issues. My practice is from a strengths-based, trauma-informed perspective with a non-judgmental framework. I aim to understand clients’ internal responses and to provide more options for emotional regulation and problem-solving.

Making the choice to go to therapy isn't always the easiest to do. Taking the first step in admitting you may need help is the hardest decision. Therapy isn't meant to make you feel as though there is something wrong with you. It's to allow you to be the best version of yourself possible in order to lead a happier more fulfilling life. Sometimes we just need to feel understood and validated. I provide therapy in a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere for those struggling with mental health issues.

Neurofeedback is a drug-free treatment that allows us to train an individual’s brain to achieve a healthier pattern of functioning. Neurofeedback guides brain functions by measuring brain waves and providing a feedback signal. Electroencephalography (EEG) is recorded during the neurofeedback treatment. Then, its various components are extracted and presented to the patient using a feedback loop in the form of either audio or video feedback. By utilizing the brain’s natural neuroplasticity, we can achieve long-lasting symptom improvement.

Hello there, I’m Rebecca. I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist from Riverside, California supervised by PatrickLyra Wilder LMFT 98562. The main factor that predicts successful therapy treatment is not the theories or interventions (or fancy couch), but the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and client. You deserve to feel that your therapist truly cares and supports you. As an Indigenous therapist, I provide a culturally sensitive and inclusive approach to your treatment. I believe that therapy is not a one size fits all, and that we bring our own individual needs when it comes to our mental health.

I offer psychological testing for children and adults including
ADHD
testing (children and adults), learning disability evaluations, autism evaluations, and forensic evaluations.
Homework taking 3 hours per night? Is your child struggling in school? Or maybe your child is not acting like themselves and everything you do does not help. I understand how this can worry a parent and what you may be going through. This is where a psychological evaluation is beneficial and can assist you and your child because ultimately your child has the potential to succeed. A psychological evaluation can provide insight into issues that may be difficult to uncover simply through talk therapy. I accept most insurances.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
