I work with adult individuals and couples in transition or crisis. When you are in a state of transition, some catalyst has occurred that has disrupted your sense of normalcy, security and satisfaction with your life and relationship. It may be an external change like a health diagnosis, loss of work, an affair, a death, or an internal change like a ‘mid-life crisis,’ or an increased sense of disconnection from your work or the people you love. This can be profoundly disorienting; you may experience symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. You realize that change is required, but it is scary and confusing. Where do you start?

I believe that human beings have an inner motivating force that moves them toward more health and fulfillment. Life is difficult. We all have our particular, usually life long issues that get in the way of our personal growth. The going is often ridiculously slow and repetitive; this is where therapy can be so helpful. I think and feel it is an honor to be let into someone’s life and be a catalyst for beneficial change. I believe in being happy NOW! So I will not hesitate to be straightforward and directive if I think it will be helpful.

My specialties include Couples Counseling, Life Transitions, Trauma and PTSD.
I believe that meaningful human connection grounded in insight and empathy can be deeply transformative. Many of us carry habits and patterns rooted in past fears or painful experiences that hold us back from fully enjoying life. These cycles can lead to feelings of isolation and disconnect. My goal is to offer a safe, empathetic space where we can dissolve these barriers, allowing you to access your innate resilience and embrace life with renewed energy and openness. Reaching out takes courage, and I’m here to support you.

I support clients who experience anxiety, self-doubt, and painful emotions from trauma.
As a psychologist, I help people who experience anxiety to find a way out. Through my 35 years of working with clients, I know how distressing it can be to live with anxiety. If you constantly worry that something unwanted will happen in the future and find your thoughts racing, making it impossible to relax, if you feel unpleasant sensations in your body and fear that there is something wrong with you, you don’t have to feel alone. I will help you understand how anxiety works in the mind and body. I will help you break the grip it has on you.

You are interested in EMDR because you need help with addiction and trauma.
I offer virtual Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing sessions to help you heal. We will begin by choosing which traumatic events or themes you want to work on. Next I will prepare you for the treatment by giving you grounding techniques so you have a way to cope if big feelings come up. Then we will use a light-bar application for reprocessing.

I am passionate about working with couples and individuals with any life transition issues including all stages of relationship, personal and professional development, recent or past trauma, or moving through any obstacles impeding your experience of joy, compassion and overall fulfillment.
Present or past injury influences our overall experience of ourselves in the world. As we heal, it can be difficult to fully trust or "take in" the positive. An essential part of our work together is to "rewire," and experience the good in yourself and your relationships!

My specialties include: trauma, depression, anxiety and high crisis (including self harm & suicidal ideation).

Therapy allows the opportunity to enrich our relationship to our self, others and build a life that truly feels worth living. Finding a place to feel safe, heard and supported is essential in therapy, and I strive to provide that for my clients. I bring warmth and curiosity into my work and I will challenge you at times with acceptance and openness.

Somatic experiencing is often used in the treatment of overwhelming events and PTSD.
If you overwhelmed, run down, irritable, sad or depressed, you are not alone. At times we find ourselves worn down by the weight of everything. Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
