Such goals may to grapple overcome low self esteem, maintain sobriety, come to terms with painful life experiences, and develop reality-based trust in relatioonships.
Jungian analysis assumes our our brains are busy night and day, often with matters we prefer to disregard, such as personal attributes we have learned to dislike, and experiences at odds with the selves we want to present to our own or others' eyes. By identifying these lacks and distortions, the work can shift negative moods and destructive assumptions.

I work with adult individuals and couples in transition or crisis. When you are in a state of transition, some catalyst has occurred that has disrupted your sense of normalcy, security and satisfaction with your life and relationship. It may be an external change like a health diagnosis, loss of work, an affair, a death, or an internal change like a ‘mid-life crisis,’ or an increased sense of disconnection from your work or the people you love. This can be profoundly disorienting; you may experience symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. You realize that change is required, but it is scary and confusing. Where do you start?

Do you find it hard to feel grounded or connected to yourself and notice how that makes it harder to connect with others? When shame, guilt, judgment, or self-doubt take over, they can shape how you think, how you show up, and how you relate to the people around you. Over time, this can lead to feeling isolated, drained, anxious, or stuck. A healthy relationship with yourself is the foundation for meaningful relationships with others. As F.M. Alexander once said, "People do not decide their futures, they decide their habits and their habits decide their futures."

Do you struggle with issues of self esteem or self worth?
So much of our pain has occurred or continues to occur in relationship to others. I believe developing healing and trust in the therapist/client relationship serves as an experiential template for other relationships. I will partner on your journey of exploration so that you are not alone. We may grow together as we learn to trust one another and ourselves.

The client feedback I receive is that I am especially helpful at relationships, career related issues, grief and loss, perfectionism, and self esteem.
There are many ways to help people, but I have found that truly understanding my clients' unique experiences, strengths and vulnerabilities, as well as their family and social context, is essential. In a trusting environment, we then use tried and true theories to build on your strengths and begin to understand the meaning of your distressing symptoms.

I have a strong interest in working with women on the foundation of their SELF ESTEEM and how this impacts their relationships and decisions.
All we really want in this world is to be loved and accepted. Why is it so incredibly hard for us to love and accept ourselves? Using mindfulness, attachment theory, and the latest research in neuroscience, I help Individuals & couples transform their relationship from a source of pain into a source of deep lasting joy.

Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I can help you focus on your strengths, many of which you may not have even been aware of, build your self esteem and begin to love yourself again.
Are you down on yourself, beating yourself up with thoughts like "I'm not good enough, I'm a failure, I should work harder than I do or I'll never get what I want out of life?" Do you focus on your flaws rather than your strengths and maybe have even forgotten what your strengths are? I can help you identify, challenge and change those distorted, negative, self defeating ideas to give you a more realistic, compassionate and affirming sense of yourself.

Welcome. It's a pleasure to serve clients and see them grow into increased self-love and presence. Being in a collaborative relationship with clients with awareness, empathy, somatic work and what is strength-based, Positive Psychology is the style which seems to be most effective in our mutual endeavor with client driven goals. This appears to create an optimal environment for clients in which to grow in and explore what's present. I enjoy working with adults, couples, and youth from many backgrounds. I am Gottman Level3 trained in the state of the art marriage and couples training.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
