Most of us are not born knowing how to navigate relationships, understand and manage our emotions or process our traumas. Many things throughout our life influence us and how we react and behave in different situations, however that doesn’t mean we can’t grow and develop as individuals. My goal is to help clients become confident in who they are through discovering their own self-worth and practicing self-compassion. We can work together to create a space where you can find the tools and support you are looking for during this period of your life.

I work with those struggling with changes in their body due to aging, new insights around their sexuality, gender identity or relationships.
You have questions about yourself that seem more pressing after watching a video in which you heard the speaker share your own experiences navigating your sexuality or gender expression through their words. The realizations about who you are and what you want have brought levels of self-doubt about how to show up in your current relationships; platonic, coworker, familial or romantic. How do you now identify, how do you express that identity? You continue to struggle with the need to love/accept yourself exactly as you are and with what the social consequences may be should you choose to express that part of yourself openly.

If you feel ready to make some changes and continue on your path schedule a consultation.

You thought opening your relationship would bring energy, closeness, and possibility. You imagined feeling more alive, more connected, and more like yourself. Instead, you find yourself carrying worries you never expected. Maybe you feel insecure when your partner sees someone new. Maybe you feel guilty for wanting more than one connection. Or maybe the two of you are stuck in loops of communication that leave you hurt, confused, and questioning the future. You want this to work, but right now it feels heavier than it should. What was supposed to be fun has become overwhelming. Something needs to change.

My ideal client is someone who is willing. It doesn't matter if you don't know what you're doing or if you feel afraid of or confident starting this journey. So long as you are willing, I am willing. Working with me will require vulnerability, and I never expect this in the first session because therapy, at its heart, is a relationship. If it takes time to trust me with your genuine, vulnerable self, that is okay. We can work towards trust while exploring what you feel comfortable starting with. This is how I build a space that holds the parts of you that need more trust to emerge.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who thinks everyone should try therapy at some point because therapy makes life easier! I've been an LCSW for over a decade and I've worked in schools, and the court system, and with treatment centers and in private practice. I like people, and ( I know, it's corny) I feel so honored that my clients allow me to be a part of their lives and hear their stories. All of my clients are so brave and willing to work toward the lives they really want, and it never stops being so meaningful to be a part of that process.

I aim to collaborate to set goals, create clarity, explore experiences, and work toward solutions using body, mind, spirit approaches. Life doesn't always unfold the way we expect. At certain points - during transitions, losses, relationship challenges, or periods of uncertainty - we may find ourselves questioning who we are, where we're going, or how to move forward. Therapy offers a space to slow down, reflect, and better understand the patterns and experiences shaping your life. I provide psychotherapy for adults and older adults seeking deeper self-understanding, emotional relief, and meaningful change. My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded in curiosity rather than judgement.

Transgender Therapists
As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
