The realizations about who you are and what you want have brought levels of self-doubt about how to show up in your current relationships; platonic, coworker, familial or romantic.
Talking through the thoughts and feelings that are on a constant loop internally will help provide clarity and quiet the noise. Together we will explore all the questions you need answers to without judgement, celebrate the unique, wonderful person you authentically are and throw a few much needed curses at what we don’t control.

I see clients throughout California via video sessions. Most of the people I work with are told they need to be different than they are. Sometimes they get that message explicitly, always they get that message in the way people treat them. Therapy with me doesn’t aim to make you different. We’ll work to help you navigate the world while being healthy and fully you. Specific issues my clients are navigating include: being neurodivergent (mostly autistic and ADHD), being transgender or outside the gender binary, being non-monogamous, or being deep in grief.

In addition, I have training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) "parts work", a highly effective method for trauma, anxiety, and depression. Along with working with adults, I also offer play therapy, and often work with children and teens in my practice.

In my practice, I work with individuals across the lifespan—children, adolescents, adults, parents, and couples—struggling with a range of challenges including anxiety, OCD, trauma, ADHD, and relationship concerns.
Are you or your child struggling with anxiety or OCD? Is your family walking on eggshells? Is your adult child feeling “stuck” and unable to move toward independence? Are you getting truancy letters because your child refuses school? Not sure what step to take next? I am a therapist who works with youth, adults, and parents, focusing on the treatment of anxiety and OCD using evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and a powerful parenting model called SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions).

I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and love working with individuals and couples.
EFT has been shown to be effective and lasting. Sometimes we find ourselves in relationship patterns that are hard to break free from. We deeply desire the connection and a felt sense of security, but when the emotions run high, we can say things that we don't really mean to try and get the connection. This is a common pattern I see & can help.

I offer many modalities of therapy and I have worked with all age groups from children/adolescence, adults, geriatric, groups, and couples as well.
I believe that the power of vulnerability is one of our greatest strengths and ultimately can provide us with a deeper sense of self, security, comfort, and more compassionate towards one another. Coming from a strength-based form of doing therapy and providing support to others, I work to provide my clients with a sense of validation and comfort. As a cis male that identifies as Latinx and as a proud member of the LGBTQIA community, I am able to hold the experience of living in many diverse, cross-cultural emotional experiences that we sometimes may not even know how to begin to understand.

I am the author of a book called, Tactical Boundaries: How to Make All of Your Relationships Work For You.
I am hands on and interactive. I give my clients direction, as opposed to just asking questions and nodding. I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I know that being street smart is just as important as being book smart if you want success in life. I do not take insurance.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
