I will sit with you in your confusion or suffering as we explore, together, the deeper meaning of your choices with empathy, support, compassion while affirming your hu man dignity and value.
Your everyday choices reflect the meaning you are attempting to bring to your life. Take a moment to let that sink in...........Big or small, these choice were and are driven by conscious and unconscious hopes, desires, needs, dreams, etc. There are times, however, when you experience trauma, severe life stressors, or times of crisis that negatively impact your ability to make healthy choices that may result in loneliness, confusion, fear, anger, and sadness. Over time these choices produce repeated patterns that impact the quality of your lived experiences.

My goal is to help people open up and discover new aspects of themselves. I believe that every person has a unique and interesting story. I work towards deconstructing problem-saturated narratives and thickening thin descriptions that lead to unhealthy thinking patterns and behaviors.

My clinical work is grounded in trauma-informed care and is guided by Inner Hu manism, Internal Family Systems, DBT, CBT, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Existential and Psychodynamic perspectives.
Sometimes, people are overwhelmed by the thought of changing feelings, behaviors, and patterns that may have long histories or that have resisted previous efforts. I firmly believe therapy offers solid reasons to have hope, as one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is the time and space for healing and growth. It also offers a valuable way of understanding the dynamics of change, wherein small, gradual strides assume their genuine and crucial importance. Additionally, setbacks are recognized as a natural and manageable part of the change process rather than a denial of it.

My clients are a wide-range of individuals, running the gamut from creative filmmakers to successful software engineers. They usually struggle with work stress, negative self-talk, interpersonal issues and/or trauma. My clients leave sessions feeling a greater sense of freedom with more possible choices in front of them. They come away with insight, achieving a better understanding of who they are and a clearer direction in where they wish to lead their lives.

If you have reached the conclusion that talk therapy does little for anxiety, insomnia, stress, 1) you're not alone, and 2) there is an alternative. For 29 years I've melded hypnosis, acupuncture, and hormone-balancing herbs to positive effect. My patients tell me they benefit from the somatic therapies I use to relax the overloaded nervous system (I know, in NYC?). Insurance covered. Time permitting, I am taking new patients and gladly offer a free consultation. Because Carpé Diem.

I believe our lives are deeply influenced by the breaking of trust and security in our closest relationships. These wounds can leave us feeling isolated, lonely, and stuck, making it hard to see a way forward. When we experience this kind of pain, it often feels hopeless, but with support and care, healing is not only possible—it can lead to meaningful growth. My goal is not to change you, but to offer you the space where change can take place. Together, we will walk through the hardships and complexities of life toward finding hope, insight, and ways of regaining control of your life.

Male Therapists
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
