With many years in education and with families, I frequently work with clients who are experiencing anxiety, relational and identity challenges, as well those who are seeking strategies to support ADHD and improved coping skills.
To the benefit of growth and healing for every client, regardless of issues, needs or goals, are readiness, willingness, vulnerability and transparency. The more we are curious about ourselves, the better we can learn. The more we learn about ourselves, the better we can understand. The more we understand about ourselves, better we can evolve and take care, both of ourselves and others.

Highly anxious?
Trauma can create complex and painful emotions that, if left unprocessed, may become "stuck" in your body and mind. Unprocessed trauma can have a serious impact on your physical health, mental health, career, relationships, and more. The good news is that it's never too late to heal from trauma! My goal is to provide a safe space for you to process and heal.

The goal of working in this psychodynamic, explorative way is to create a deep level of healing and change, so you are able to move beyond the fear and resistance that may be holding you back.
I work with individuals and couples, and I love working with both. I have a passion to get to know the real you, as well as the parts of you that may remain hidden to the world. Exposing these vulnerabilities in a safe and connected environment can help you to finally operate differently in your life.

As soon as you enter the world – there is an influx of challenging and often overwhelming stimuli that begin to shape the person you become. These experiences can build resilience, intelligence, and personality, but they also can lead you to live out of alignment with your intuitive needs and desires. If you are seeking more confidence, meaning, purpose, positivity, and clarity – you're in the right place. I aim to cultivate a safe and comfortable environment geared to support you in quieting the noise getting in the way of you connecting to the wholeness of who you are.

The anxiety, the flatness, the short fuse, the perfectionism: these usually aren't the real problem.
I work with men who look successful from the outside and feel strangely absent from their own lives: anxiety, flatness, perfectionism, people-pleasing. My approach is psychodynamic with mindfulness woven in. We go underneath the pattern, not just cope with it. This isn't about performing better. It's about why performing better has never been enough.

I work primarily with trauma, depression, anxiety, phobias, identity exploration, autism spectrum disorder, self-esteem, grief and loss, and other concerns.
I believe everyone's feelings, personal history, strengths, and struggles are unique. At the same time, we are all a part of the connected, human story. But sometimes we can feel alone in our suffering, or even when we try and achieve positive goals. I work with adults, couples, and families by using my diverse training in a way that fits their particular styles and needs. Through relational connection, collaborating on concrete coping skills, and exploration of current and past patterns, I have seen tremendous healing in my partnership with clients.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
