My professional experience includes working with adolescents, adults and couples dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, chronic illness, PTSD, family conflict, relationship issues, women's issues , life transition and pet loss grief.
Life is hard sometimes and it's OK to need help along the way! Therapy is a great place to get the unbiased support you need. So many people live their lives feeling effects of depression, anxiousness or loneliness, feeling stuck, lost, or that something just isn't sitting right. Those feelings don't have to be carried around with you every day.

Homework. Sports. Laundry. Lunches. Work. DINNER. (…again?) As a mom, you have a million things to do, but here you are—searching for a therapist. You know something needs to change, & you have hope that the right therapist can help. But on top of the gazillion other things that you have to do as a mom, vetting the right therapist is HARD. I get it. The overwhelm is real. The mental load is stifling. Maybe you need a therapist. Maybe your kid does. Either way, I can help. As a single mom of 3 school-aged kids, I am in the trenches with you. My real-time experience as a mom allows me to meaningfully connect with kids and other moms.

Much of my professional experience has been working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. I enjoy helping each family member find their voice and improve their communication and functioning as a family. I aim to help them to lift their depression and anxiety, communicate better in their relationships, and figure out who they are and what they stand for. In addition to individual and family therapy, I run a Middle School Girls' Group and High School Girls' Group therapy experience which can be powerful and helpful for young girls. *I also provide Clinical Supervision to pre-licensed therapists.

Sometimes it is hard to know which way to go. You can get caught up in the same routine daily as you balance school, work, friends, family, and relationships. You may often attempt to escape your emotions that build up while managing heavy caseloads and expectations. You may scroll through social media platforms, watch people get engaged or married, have children, and travel world-leading "dream" jobs. You may think to yourself – when will it be my turn? Here’s the truth: you aren’t some other person. You are you, and you deserve to live the best life possible.

As a therapist I have been practicing therapy for over ten years and enjoy working with a variety of clients, including teens and couples. I have had success in working with women and men who have had past trauma and/or transitional issues. I utilize forms of long and short term therapy for adults and play therapy with children helping them to find their voice. As part of my practice I teach parenting skills helping parents find ways to interact, communicate and discipline their children at different stages in their lives in a loving and consistent manner.

My approach to therapy is based on developing a deep emotional connection with the people in our lives, improving self-esteem, accessing inner resources to cope with difficulties and learning to have compassion for ourselves and others. Although therapy can be very helpful when we are going through a difficult time in our lives, it is also an important self-care practice. Just like we attend yoga or the gym to take care of our bodies, taking care of our emotional and mental health is just as important. For me, wellness needs to be holistic, both body and mind need to be treated to truly achieve inner peace and fulfillment.

Sometimes it feels like the system is designed to break women down. You’re forever navigating professional and personal roadblocks that seem to pop up with the express purpose of making you settle for less. You started out with such lofty hopes and dreams, determined to prove everyone who said “you can’t have it all” wrong. But over time, your dreams faded. Society continually reinforced that your job and family are supposed to come first. So you’ve internalized this idea and, in the process, lost track of what you want. You spend so much effort pretending everything is fine, but inside, you’re losing connection with yourself.

I strive to create safe space where clients can feel comfortable examining their strengths and challenges. I see myself as a guide on this journey of self-discovery, and I believe it's important to look together at the multiple contexts that affect us as individuals, from our family backgrounds to the meanings that we attach to our experiences in order to find our authenticity. I use an individualized approach grounded in family systems to guide clients on their journeys of self-exploration, weaving mindfulness and cognitive behavioral techniques into sessions.

Hi, I'm Magda. I'm a culturally-sensitive Latina therapist and really love what I do. I'm here to support and help you work through the underlying stuff that may be holding you back. Life can sometimes feel hard and overwhelming, but when we practice connecting and investing in ourselves, a world of possibilities naturally opens up. I'm passionate about helping you explore this space on a deeper level to provide a greater understanding about present issues. Together, we can shine a light on this world of possibilities. I enjoy working with adolescents, individual adults, couples, and families.

Marriage and relationships can be challenging. We don't all learn how to communicate or handle conflict effectively in our families growing up. I help couples learn how to manage their relationship in a healthy way by learning how to really "hear " each other's thoughts and feelings as well as helping them to work together to find solutions that work for both of you. I have been a therapist for over 19 years. I specialize in working with couples and individuals that want to make their relationships happier and healthier. I help couples with codependency, infidelity, communication negotiation/compromise and connection.

Life can be very hard at times. I get it. Relationships can get messy, and not having our core needs met or our feelings validated can leave us feeling hurt and frustrated. Therapy can help you gain a deeper understanding of your unique situation and feelings. Together we can identify the factors that are keeping you stuck in these unhelpful cycles, and you can learn strategies to constructively move forward. My goal is to help you feel more connected to yourself and others!

Women's Issues Therapists

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
