In my work, I use a holistic approach and borrow from different theoretical orientations, such as psychodynamic , attachment theory, and somatic approaches.
You deserve to live an authentic life, without fear. A lot of times, experiencing anxiety or going through traumatic experiences can leave you feeling overwhelmed. It can result in you putting your needs last just to keep the peace with others. Maybe you also experience panic attacks, and feel disconnected from yourself and other relationships. Either way, I can help. I use a gentle approach to help you reconnect to yourself, feel more empowered in your decisions, and address the effects of anxiety and trauma. I collaborate with you so you can feel more sure of your needs, and be fully present with others. You deserve it.

I treat children, teens, and young adults struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, emotional regulation, grief, and more. Some clients, especially teen boys, favor confiding in a male therapist. My integrative approach draws from a combination of practices including mindfulness-based interventions, psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and somatic practice which focuses on the mind body connection to help my clients cope with their issues, increase self-esteem, and develop emotional regulation and resiliency. In younger children, I use play therapy to facilitate communication and gain a deeper understanding of their needs.

Conceptualizing from an attachment and psychodynamic perspective, I believe that short- or long-term therapy can increase an individual’s awareness of the issues that are affecting one’s goals, decisions, actions, and relationships.
I am a psychologist specializing in helping adults and older adolescents who are experiencing distress, specifically anxiety or depression. I’ve practiced in the South Bay since 1989 and I enjoy working with individuals and couples to resolve emotional distress and improve interpersonal relationships. Common treatment issues include situational stress, grief and loss, family and social relationships, parenting, prior trauma, work and career dilemmas, transitions, and eating disorders.

EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), parts-work, psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-narrative therapy, and the Satir growth model are examples of therapeutic modalities that inform, inspire, and influence her work.
Do anxiety, fear, guilt, shame, or anger limit you from relating and living fully? Are you facing adversity, at a crossroads, or worried about yourself or a loved one? Are you feeling disconnected, dissatisfied, and stuck? Do you need individual, couples, or family therapy? If you answered yes to any of these questions, know that you are not alone. With courage, compassion, and curiosity, you can adapt, transform, and overcome the circumstances that prevent you from living your best life.

I focus on approaches including Psychodynamic , CBT, DBT, EMDR, mindfulness, and strengths-based approach.
Is your self-doubt, anxiety, or depression holding you back from reaching your full potential in life? Do you want to make positive changes but don’t know where to start? Do you feel alone in your suffering? The good news is that you are not alone! Therapy ensures that we do not have to experience these struggles on our own. I like to think of a therapist as a flashlight in a dark forest. While I may not be able to take you out of the forest immediately, I will go through the experience with you, providing non-judgmental and compassionate guidance, support, and insight along the way.

My holistic approach is guided by Psychodynamic , Feminist, and Buddhist principles to help my clients feel more centered, connected and free.
Entrepreneurs, artists, musicians, writers, LGBTQ + and women of all ages are those who make up the majority of people who come to see me. My clients often find themselves carving out their own path in some way and are in the position of wanting more. Feelings of anxiety or depression may be plaguing you despite efforts to make changes on your own. Your feelings deserve acknowledgement. Often we are very adept at masking our dis-ease, however, this can be a lonely experience if parts of us are never seen. Now you are ready for more clarity, more freedom, and an opportunity to pause and reflect on your narratives and relationships.

I draw on aspects of cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness, EMDR, psychodynamic , and biofeedback to assist patients in improving their symptoms, relationships, self-image, and coping strategies.
One of the most important aspects in therapy is for patients to feel heard, respected, and understood. Given that each individual is unique, and no one issue is ever the same among different people, my approach is integrative and tailored to meet the needs of the person, not the "problem". I strive to create a compassionate, non-judgemental environment for patients to learn, grow, explore, challenge, and to live the life they want to be living. I specialize in working with adults - individual, couples, and family - with anxiety, depression, PTSD/trauma, relationship problems, substance abuse, ADD/ADHD, and LGBTQ issues.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
