You’ve been carrying so much for so long that you barely remember what it feels like to breathe deeply, feel grounded, or have space for yourself. You pour into everyone, yet inside you feel anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally depleted. You want support that honors both your mental health and your faith, without judgment or pressure. Rebecca is the founder of Brewing Hope Family Counseling. While she may not always have availability, her team includes therapists specializing in teen therapy, bilingual counseling (Spanish and Korean), and EMDR trauma treatment. The issue we all struggle with is how to remain present when our minds constantly are driven to anticipate and control an unmanageable future and keep a tight grip on an unbearable past (so that we are not overcome by it). When this dilemma becomes too much we lose trust, faith, and the use of intuition and begin to operate on fear, shame, and anger. This pattern is altered through someone making a “leap of faith” and trusting that someone can understand and see things through their eyes. This is what I consider to be the heart of my work and it typically means that change is happening before any other “intervention”.

Do you feel out of control and overwhelmed? Do you feel that sometimes it’s hard to breathe and it feels scary. Is indecisiveness and low confidence causing you to miss opportunities. You want to be intentional about making life choices but you often second guess yourself.

My focus as a therapist is always on providing a safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative environment for my client to be seen, heard, and understood. I truly believe that self-knowledge and self-awareness are the most powerful gifts we can give ourselves. My practice intersects traditional clinical training as a licensed psychotherapist with mindfulness-based interventions and a mind-body-spirit-centered approach.

Hi there, I'm Ashley! Most of us are not born knowing how to navigate relationships, understand and manage our emotions, or process our traumas. Many things throughout our lives influence us and how we react and behave in different situations; however, that doesn’t mean we can’t grow and develop as individuals. My goal is to help you continue to build confidence in yourself through discovering your self-worth and practicing self-compassion.

After over 15 years battling addiction and experiencing trauma, seeking relief from my own pain, I found a new way of life. Leaving the corporate world, I set on a path of service, connecting to individuals and families seeking healing of their own. Over the last two and a half decades on both sides, I gained invaluable experience working with several organizations in admissions, case management, counseling, aftercare and intervention as well as volunteering time whenever possible. Recovery is about finding healing for the individual and family while learning to communicate in a new way.

Divorce Therapists
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
