Exhausted by the way you think about yourself? We are often (if not always) our own worst enemies. Whether this has caused you problems with guilt, shame, anxiety, depression, addiction or you name it - the starting point is generally the same. When we embark on the project of therapy you will be asked to put your painful thoughts and feelings into words. As the process unfolds, the strength and fervor used to overthink and condemn yourself will become accessible to use productively in reaching your goals.

Healing from trauma can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face it alone. With over 30 years of experience in law enforcement and the military, followed by a career as a therapist, I bring both clinical expertise and personal insight to support your journey. I work with individuals and couples facing trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship struggles. As Dr. Bessel van der Kolk highlights in "The Body Keeps the Score", trauma often lies at the root of ongoing mental health challenges. Together, we’ll work toward lasting healing, resilience, and growth.

Being vulnerable to anyone is scary! But, I know you are on this page for a reason. You're ready for a change or, at least, know that there must be something different to experience. That's called HOPE! You could have hope that you don't have to be sad every day, hope that life doesn't have to be scary, hope in a relationship that isn't filled with contention, or hope that you can find your purpose in this world. Whatever your reason is, YOU'VE ALREADY COMPLETED THE FIRST STEP! You are seeking help!

Deep within, I believe everyone holds the keys to a life of profound meaning and joy. By discerning their dreams and charting their personal journeys, my clients unlock doors to lives they cherish all the more. In the wise words of Carl Jung, 'Man's task is to become conscious of the contents that press upward from the unconscious.'

We all struggle at different times in our lives. Whether it’s with depression, anxiety, trauma, or relationship issues… I want you to know that you don't have to do this alone. Maybe you have a need for clarity and a plan to navigate this chapter of your life. Maybe you're feeling stuck and are uncertain where to turn. Whatever challenges you are encountering, it would be my honor to walk with you through them, increase your resilience, and help you become the best version of you.

You’re smart, driven, and maybe even the go-to person for advice—but when it comes to your own stress, self-doubt, or relationships, things feel…messy. As a founder, creative, or high-achiever, you're juggling impossible demands, chasing success, and wondering why fulfillment still feels just out of reach. Imposter syndrome? Burnout? Overthinking at Olympic levels? You’re not alone. Therapy is a space where we can sort through the noise, tackle what’s holding you back, and help you build a life that feels as good on the inside as it looks on paper.

Life is a journey. I am not here to judge. I am here as a guide. I counsel individuals, couples, and teenagers in a safe, honest and "down-to-earth" manner. I work inside a comfortable private office providing traditional psychotherapy in Roseville, California. For those clients that would like a more experiential approach, I also take therapy outside with Walk and Talk Therapy. Individual clients accompany me on a two-hour hike/walk that combines movement, nature and psychotherapy. For those who are too busy to leave their home or office, I provide on-line counseling as well. Click on my website to book an appointment.

Providing evaluations, behavioral services, and ongoing therapeutic services for individuals and couples. There are no guarantees therapy will give you what you want but it may increase your awareness and understanding. It could help you to adapt to different life problems, relational issues and to make more educated choices. Finding a balance between logic and emotions is critical but learning a way to make reactions to events constructive instead of destructive is essential for promoting growth and development in our life and in our relationships. I am past military and I will always welcome veterans and their families to treatment.

My clients often come to me because they feel discouraged about resolving the challenges they are facing. Though troubling, depression, anxiety, conflict are often an invitation for us to take the time to focus inward, understand core issues underlying the symptoms, and learn more about our true needs. With this new awareness we may consciously choose new actions that help us develop a more fulfilling future. Through our work clients tell me they enjoy greater self esteem, more confidence that they can create what they want in their lives, and happier, healthier relationships with loved ones.

Everyone faces unique challenges in life, whether related to work, family, relationships, or personal struggles. These stressors can take many forms, but one thing remains true: we all need a healthy outlet to process our experiences and grow. While the emotions we feel may be common, the reasons behind them and the ways we respond can differ greatly. Therapy offers a safe, supportive space to explore these emotions, free from distractions and judgment. It provides an opportunity to address individual needs, reflect on our circumstances, and work towards personal growth and positive change. I strive to create a welcoming environment

My goal is to offer a compassionate and supportive environment for people to experience change. Change and growth can take a different form with each unique person or couple. Growth can be seen in the different perception about a ongoing issue, a greater insight into ones emotional experience, or through actions taken towards a new direction. I recognize that throughout life there are many moments that come unexpectedly and a supportive grace filled relationship is helpful in finding direction and pursuing change.

Therapy that moves you forward, that is, if you are ready! You aren't here because life is perfect but because something feels off, stuck, or overwhelming and you are ready to actually deal with it. Maybe you've done therapy before, but didn't quite get to the deeper issues. Maybe you've never done therapy but know you don't want surface level sessions with no progress. You want change. Clarity. A space where you can be fully honest without being judged or boxed in. Whether you're dealing with stress, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, or burnout, we'll work through it in a way that feels intentional, honest, and sustainable.

Whether your life includes being single, adjusting to marriage or parenthood, raising a teen, children leaving the home, or adjusting to retirement, each phase brings plenty of unique challenges. Issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, and life dissatisfaction can seem like constant companions through it all. It can feel exhausting! Life should not be about working so hard yet feeling so flat!

I have worked as a psychotherapist for over 20 years. I meet you where you are, attending to the particular needs and goals you bring, helping you discover more meaning, wholeness, and pleasure in your life. The daily choices we make are often informed by our early life experiences. Despite our best efforts to change, we often find ourselves repeating unwanted patterns over and over. As we sit together, exploring your feelings, your stories, and listening to your dreams and longings, we will find ways you can open yourself up to the possibility of change, finding new energy and meaning.

Men's Issues Therapists

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?

Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?

Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?

One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
