As a Latina provider, I am mindful of how our culture and upbringing can impact our sense of self and how we handle challenges. I believe in being culturally mindful and also consider how physical, social and other factors impact our mental health. I am also open to discussing your spiritual journey if you would like. My clients usually appreciate a tailored approach that incorporates the most appropriate treatment for their specific situation. As professionals, we can also get very busy but with the availability of services via Telehealth, you can easily schedule this time for yourself and your growth. Hablo Espanol!!

We are living in unprecedented times with the Coronavirus pandemic upon us. Social distancing, while necessary, takes its toll on relationships and families. There is widespread panic and fear that we need to transform into productive energy to best support one another through this crisis. We can make a difference while we stay safe for our loved ones and our communities. Talking about your own fears and anxieties and finding ways to harness them into action can help. Social distancing does not have to mean isolation. I am honored to walk with you through this and trust that we will get through this together. You are not alone.

Currently, I have no availability for new clients but am happy to consult and help with referrals! I believe that people have an innate capacity to heal and make desired changes in their lives, but the work of personal and relational growth can be difficult and doesn’t have to be done alone. I offer a safe and supportive space where we can work together on creating what you want to see in your life. My style is collaborative, authentic and rooted in compassion. I use a blend of evidenced-based approaches, including CBT, DBT and EMDR for depression, anxiety, relationship challenges and trauma.

"We all have our stuff." I heard a wise woman say this years ago. We might feel overwhelmed by all the expectations of life - of adulthood. We might be carrying the weight of something terrible that has happened in our lives. We might feel deeply alone - even when we are around other people. Maybe we feel out of control or lacking discipline, struggling to break habits that we know are bad for us. Whatever the case may be, you are not alone. Lots of people come to therapy. Lots of people feel much better after trying it.

Counseling doesn't have to be scary. Throughout our lives we all experience difficult situations that need a second set of eyes and ears to offer a different perspective. Since friends and family are unable to be objective, that is where the counselor's role comes into play. Whether you are having family conflict, relationship issues with your significant other, or just need someone to talk to because everything just seems to be falling apart, I am here for you.

Women's Issues Therapists

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
