“This shouldn’t be this hard!” You’re tired of being tired, fighting about the same things over and over, wanting trust with your person, and needing peace for yourself. When conflict repeats and trust erodes, you focus on what the other person is doing wrong, which leaves both of you feeling misunderstood and disconnected. You want the other person to change, but you don’t look honestly at your own patterns, reactions, and contributions to the relationship dynamic. Putting yourself in their shoes becomes less important when you don’t feel heard. You want things to go back to the way they were or forward in the ways you want.

My clients come to me for practical, tangible guidance and support on how to overcome the challenges they face. I use an evidenced based approach, combining Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, that helps clients regain control of their lives, reduce unhelpful racing thoughts, and develop resiliency and confidence. Unlike traditional "talk therapy," where much your time is spent discussing vague concepts, my approach is to create realistic, attainable solutions and help you identify the roadmap to achieve them. About half of my practice involves working with teens/young adults and half with adults.

Sports Psychology Expert, Dr.
My graduate degrees are in Athletic Counseling (M.S.) and Sports Psychology (Doctorate). Athletic Counseling targets issues that aren't necessarily sports-related but can detrimentally affect performance. A Mental Coach should have experience playing sports and coaching athletes in order to relate to them. I also work with parents on coaching.

I draw from a range of frameworks, including psychodynamic, attachment, existential, ACT, DBT, somatic, mindfulness-based, and various lenses within sports psychology, tailoring each session to the unique needs of each person.
Our pasts do not define us; however, they do inform us. We are all shaped by our biology and environments, and to truly understand ourselves in the present, it is valuable to reflect on our past experiences, perhaps even across generations. I believe that we are never permanently stuck; we simply need the right person(s) and tools to help us move through our challenges. As a multicultural person with a diverse background, I deeply value individuality and I approach every session with a fresh perspective, honoring the fact that no two people share the same story. I am here to support your exploration of your intersectionalities.

Perhaps you've suffered an injury or a concussion that has set you back or you've seen other traumatic injuries on the field. Are there moments you feel like you'll never get back on track? Do you suffer from the yips? In the therapy I do, athletes can beat performance anxiety, increase performance confidence, get out of a near depression, and better recover from injury and concussions.

Sports Performance Therapists
How does sports psychology work?
Sports psychology helps athletes identify and overcome challenges, such as perfectionism or a fear of failure, and improve key mental skills, such as confidence or concentration. By applying principles and techniques from psychology, such as goal-setting, visualization, positive self-talk, and emotion regulation, sports psychologists help athletes improve their performance on the field and their well-being overall.
How long does treatment for a sports-related problem take?
The duration of sports psychology treatment depends on the athlete’s individual challenges, goals, the complexity of the interventions used, and even on the length of the season. A performance anxiety issue may be treated with a short-term treatment, like Cognitive behavioural therapy, while issues such as depression, substance abuse, or severe anxiety may require longer-term treatments.
How effective is treatment for sports performance problems?
Sports psychology has been shown to improve performance and help athletes manage their emotions. Sports psychology can be effective in boosting performance, team dynamics, and injury rehabilitation. Over the past decade, nearly every professional sports team in every major sport has added a sports psychologist to its staff. Many colleges have done the same, and even some high school programs have done the same. Olympic hopefuls may consult with sports psychologists starting in elementary school.
What are the limitations of sports psychology?
Sports psychology may have several limitations. Every athlete is unique and may respond differently to sports psychology treatments. Therapy can help an athlete reach their potential; it can help athletes cope with injury and pain, but it cannot change the physical limitations that may be affecting an athlete’s performance.
