Depressed? Anxious? Drowning in pain? Family problems?
Relationship
issues? Low self-esteem? Melting away trauma, wounds, agony, and sufferings in life is a slow and delicate process. Factors that influence a person's development, personality, relationships, and the way that person is in the world could be influenced by personal historical background, family, friends, culture and environment .

Andy Terzyan
Pastoral Counselor, APCC
Research shows one of the most important components in having positive change and results from counseling is the therapeutic
relationship
.
Counseling doesn't have to be scary. Throughout our lives we all experience difficult situations that need a second set of eyes and ears to offer a different perspective. Since friends and family are unable to be objective, that is where the counselor's role comes into play. Whether you are having family conflict,
relationship
issues with your significant other, or just need someone to talk to because everything just seems to be falling apart, I am here for you.

Through my field experiences of providing bilingual individual, group, family and
couples counseling
I have been able to build therapeutic relationships that provided clients with coping skills and techniques to break barriers impacting mental health and relational problems.
“We all struggle with lives challenges and know where we would like to be, we sometimes just need a road map and a little assistance to get there. My goal is to help people imagine the future they want to create and then develop a series of realistic steps to help them get there. I focus on finding acceptance to problems rather than focusing on the problems themselves in order to move forward to solutions. I can help you identify the skills you need to make changes in your life and reach your goals. I strive to treat a variety of mental health and personality disorders, improve
relationship
issues, and empower victims of crime.”

As a Latina provider, I am mindful of how our culture and upbringing can impact our sense of self and how we handle challenges. I believe in being culturally mindful and also consider how physical, social and other factors impact our mental health. I am also open to discussing your spiritual journey if you would like. My clients usually appreciate a tailored approach that incorporates the most appropriate treatment for their specific situation. As professionals, we can also get very busy but with the availability of services via Telehealth, you can easily schedule this time for yourself and your growth. Hablo Espanol!!

I can help you "figure things out" and make sense of your
relationship
.
Do you ever think, "why is it so hard to get along?" Do you wonder why love doesn't seem to be enough to stop the fighting? Do you end up fighting and arguing when you're just trying to discuss things? Do you ever wonder why you just can't seem to understand each other? Do you wake up in the middle of the night thinking, "I can't do this anymore! I hate this! Why is this
relationship
so hard?!? There must be a better way!"

Over the past 7 years, I have had the privilege of working with individuals,
couples
, and families that struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, marital conflicts and parenting.
We all know humans are not born with manuals, instead, we have to learn as we grow! Living should be easy, but it is inevitable that we will encounter instances in our lives when we feel stuck, confused, angry and sad. It is during this time we often seek professional help to find change, direction, awareness and support. Together, we can navigate through the current struggles, as well as, the good days to find coping skills and solutions that are useful to daily living.

Why did the patient give up on shopping for a therapist online? Because they realized that healing isn't as simple as adding to a cart and checking out! Therapy is not like online shopping; it's about more than just clicking buttons. It's about taking the time, building trust, and creating a genuine therapeutic
relationship
. Real healing takes effort, and I might be the perfect fit for you or your child. I specialize in working with children struggling with adult problems and adults who feel like there are undeveloped parts of themselves that need to be addressed. Let's work together toward real healing, minus the shopping cart.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
