My ideal client is anyone willing to invest the time and effort it takes to improve upon themselves and to live life to their fullest potential. I enjoy focusing my skills on assisting youth with behavioral issues, helping guide parents, and facilitating healthy relationships. It is my belief that often times our own past experiences impact how we see ourselves and the world around us. I feel very strongly that by entering into a therapeutic
relationship
with a skilled therapist, we can uncover some of those past experiences and identify how they have contributed to our current life circumstances.

What makes therapy unique with me is my experience and training in specific
couples
therapy and individual therapy approaches.
It is a challenging experience to find a therapist. It is challenging because you have to be brave enough to seek therapy even though there is stigma, fear, and doubt that you may hear from others or even your own mind that says to not try. To further make it challenging, you may have a lengthier search finding a therapist who fits with you personally after coming up with the courage to even meet with one. So I'd like to thank you for seeking therapy in general and also thank you for allowing me to share some details of my practice so that you might consider us working together.

I invite people to be curious about their brains, to understand why they do, how they think! Addicted? Anxious? Angry? A
relationship
in trouble? All are about the brain. Learning about the amygdala and how it is connected to the rest of the brain, the alert it keeps us at, has everything to do with learning about doing life differently from here forward. Learning how visceral tension response on the body is a clue to what is going on in the mind, gives a sense of control in any situation, giving the balance between frontal lobe executive thinking and limbic system emotional reactivity.

Within our therapeutic
relationship
, I will provide you with an accepting, safe, light-hearted and sometimes humorous setting to explore the emotions that may be affecting your relationships or life satisfaction.
Hello! Most likely you are here seeking out some support to understand a behavior change or challenge out of the ordinary you have observed in your child. Or maybe you are here to explore what may not be quite clicking in your life, whether it be in your romantic
relationship
, in your work environment, in your parenting, or any other area that is creating that “uneasy” feeling. If your goal is to find that insight and understanding, I can help support you in taking that deeper look.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
