Family and relationships are an integral part of an individual's ability to be happy, and healthy. I believe that all individuals can benefit from the unique relationship that is built between the therapist and client. Individual's who have difficulty with mental health problems are particularly appropriate for treatment. I have more than 11 years experience working with children with severe behavioral and attachment difficulties, and the family's/friends who love them. The parent/partner relationship is a particularly special relationship that requires support, attention, and caring reflection. I am calm and supportive.

Our most vulnerable and heart breaking experiences we face in life, shape us in helping us become our better and most authentic self. No matter what we go through with the help, motivation and acceptance we have to create our new path and outlook. I believe that cycles that are not broken are wheels that do not allow us to overcome the fear and anxiety in finding what we truly deserve. The best healing is looking back and laughing at what we thought was the most challenging. The end goal will be to help you better understand your physical, social, spiritual and wellbeing of your true self.

My ideal client is anyone willing to invest the time and effort it takes to improve upon themselves and to live life to their fullest potential. I enjoy focusing my skills on assisting youth with behavioral issues, helping guide parents, and facilitating healthy relationships. It is my belief that often times our own past experiences impact how we see ourselves and the world around us. I feel very strongly that by entering into a therapeutic relationship with a skilled therapist, we can uncover some of those past experiences and identify how they have contributed to our current life circumstances.

The relationships that we have with others (in and out of our families, friends, etc), vastly impact the ways that we view the world, and how we cope with our difficulties. I have extensive experience working with those who struggle with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and behavioral disorders, and helping them to learn to cope in the world and within their interpersonal relationships. People who are struggling with mental health issues, as well as relational issues, may benefit greatly from the therapeutic relationship that can be built within the therapy session.

If you answered yes, you are not alone. Feeling "stuck" can cause depression, anxiety or a host of other physical and emotional problems. I can help you understand how thoughts, feelings and behaviors interact to affect your well being. Utilizing a compassionate, non-judgmental approach, I will help you understand the underlying source of troubles and develop realistic alternatives to resolving issues.

Finding a therapist that you connect with is so important and personal; so much so that our relationship is the foundation for success in treatment. Helping people has always been my passion and I believe people have the internal tools necessary for positive change. I have worked with many different people throughout the years. These people have sought out therapy for many reasons. Life happens and challenges come up. Maybe it's older issues from childhood that have an impact now. Maybe it's brand new grieving the loss of a relationship. Maybe there is a feeling of being stuck.

Empathy has no script. There is no right or wrong way to do it. It’s simply listening, holding space, withholding judgment, emotionally connecting, and communicating that incredibly healing message of “You’re Not Alone.” In my experience as a therapist, I have assisted individuals with challenges such as, depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance use and schizophrenia. I have extensive experience working with youth and adult offenders in our judicial system.

It is my belief that we generally want to feel safe, secure and connected to ourselves, our families/friends and our communities. Obstacles to doing so can include circumstances outside of our control and also the results of our own learned patterns and behaviors. Therapy is an integral part of healing past trauma, validating one's thoughts/feelings/emotions, identifying dysfunctional patterns of engagement and learning new skills to cope. Through work with a therapist, it is possible to shape a life and relationships that include confidence, calm and presence that is so often missed in the busyness of society today.

How can I find a therapist in West, Fresno?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
