Trauma and PTSD Therapists in Freedom, CA
I have years of experience working with clients with diagnoses of depression, anxiety, and trauma, as well as working with neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ clients.
I believe it is important to understand an individual's complex history including attachments, trauma, and the positives, and use this information to comprehend why a person has come to be who they are, and their cognitive processes. Additionally, I like to use this understanding to support in improving one's symptoms and behaviors.

Sometimes having compassion for ourselves is much harder than extending compassion to others. It’s difficult when we are dealing with thoughts that convince us we are broken or stuck, or when we are facing issues that seem larger than us, issues that appear beyond what our personal power can handle. Along with these thoughts of uncertainty come feelings such as anxiety, sadness, shame, and grief, all of which we struggle to avoid which can make living a valued existence appear difficult or impossible. Yet it is. You don’t need to go it alone. I can see that power within you, even if you are unable to see this in yourself.

My approach is somatic and trauma-informed, integrating CBT, CPT, and DBT skills to build practical tools while supporting emotional awareness and regulation.
I work with young adults and adults who often appear high-functioning on the outside but feel overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected internally. Many are navigating stress, life transitions, or past experiences that continue to show up in daily life. It can feel like getting stuck in overthinking, emotional burnout, or difficulty slowing down, even when things look “fine” from the outside. Together, we work to understand these patterns and find ways to feel more grounded, present, and intentional in your life.

My primary areas of expertise are issues of trauma (early or recent), grief and loss, sexual abuse, substance abuse, divorce and blended family issues.
It's not easy to look for a therapist. I talk to many nervous people who question if counseling and therapy work. They usually leave my office relaxed, sometimes laughing, most importantly hopeful. My job is to first of all provide a safe space for your self-exploration. I am endlessly fascinated by the growth that happens when people feel safe and not judged. I invite you to be your "uncensored self" because only when we accept who we are; are we open to change.

At Santa Cruz Therapy Collective, I enjoy working with parents who are struggling with anxiety, isolation, conflict, and loss of self. The parenting experience is not always what people anticipate - instead of joy there is worry, insecurity, and overwhelm. By providing perinatal and parenting-specific techniques and research-based support for symptom relief, I help to normalize these common experiences and improve the family's sense of wellness. Our work together provides relief from suffering, harmony in relationships, and joyful attunement with children.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
