Maybe you can't get a good night's sleep. Or, you're snapping at the people you love. You feel mentally scattered, like you're without an anchor. You work so hard, but it feels like you're going nowhere. I would love to support you toward healing. I see patients throughout California via telehealth. I also welcome South Asian American clients who are grappling with stigma around therapy. Let's talk about work stress, dating, marriage, sexual orientation, aging, family expectations, and identity.

I have years of experience working with clients with diagnoses of depression, anxiety, and trauma, as well as working with neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ clients. I have supported clients in understanding why they are experiencing their symptoms, what skills they need and what skills work for that specific individual, and encourage them to utilize their learned skills in order to improve their symptoms and overall functioning.

Relationships and the Quality of your Life will not just improve on their own. People continue doing the same things and, interestingly, expect different results. Just look around and see how many people are really unhappy in their lives, have given up on their dreams, and have settled for a routine day by day existence. You need effective solutions that are actually DIFFERENT than anything you have ever tried. For about 19 years, I have successfully helped hundreds of my consultees to improve the quality of their lives and relationships, achieve their goals and happily live their Dream Lives.

Seeking and getting support isn't always easy, but we aren't meant to endure life's challenges alone. Reaching out for support is itself a brave act of self love, and in doing so you will prove to yourself the depth of your abilities and the unlimited potential for growth with which you possess. I believe people are capable of so much, and my goal is to work collaboratively with you to help you achieve what you want to get out of your life and your relationships with others.

Therapy is a wonderful opportunity for personal growth. It is also helpful in overcoming common symptoms such as anxiety and depression, for improving relationships and for changing behaviors that may hinder quality of life. It is common to experience hesitation or ambivalence when starting therapy, much like many other new beginnings. I encourage you to try. People frequently report feeling better just by taking the first step of calling and making a first appointment. I view therapy as a collaborative process in which, together, we will explore, understand and conquer the obstacles you have encountered in your journey.

Your childhood was rough, so you've learned how to do it all since you couldn't always count on your family. You wanted a different life for yourself, so you always pushed hard to prove to yourself & everyone else that you're different. You're the one everyone goes to, you're the planner, the one who gets stuff done, but behind the curtain you feel like you're constantly in fake-it-til-you-make it mode. You just keep doing more and pushing yourself, since that's what has always worked so far. But you're tired and burnt out, and you're looking for more in your life and your relationships.

Hi there! I am a High Performance Coach who helps people overcome limiting beliefs & negative patterns so they can embody their full potential & bring their biggest visions to life. In short, I'll help you reach your goals and move through any roadblocks along the way. There are three steps to creating lasting change: 1. Self Awareness, 2. Acceptance, 3. Aligned Action. Most methodologies create change by moving straight from awareness to change on a behavioral level, but this is missing the most powerful step: acceptance. Once we fully accept every part of ourselves, only then can we execute change externally & more powerfully.

There are times in life when our paths lead us off course and we find ourselves struggling with serious issues like negativity, depression, worry, anxiety, interpersonal relational issues, difficulty with co-workers or unfulfilling marriages. Some of us struggle with unresolved trauma from our past, leaving us feeling distant, disconnected and alone. No matter how difficult your current situation seems, I believe that it is always possible to get back on track and feel better. In my years specializing in domestic violence, eating disorders and trauma related therapy, I have helped individuals, couples and families overcome multiple obstacles.

Hello! I am a Jungian psychotherapist, primarily based in the East Bay. I work with children, teens and adults. Most of my clients are people who have experienced being othered or marginalized, either by society or by family and friends. Many of my clients are queer, and/or neurodivergent, and/or have experienced trauma through abuse and loss. All of my clients are seeking to cultivate healthy relationships with themselves and others. Our work together aims to heal the wounds that get in the way of that happening.

I strongly believe in the collaborative nature of therapy - the creative engagement between the client and therapist, working toward a common goal: to help bring a greater sense of well being to you, the client - to your life, your psyche, your body, your relationships, your career, your home. I have a background in film, which makes working with people from the arts a natural fit (though I love to work with clients from all walks of life). Relationship concerns, career concerns, depression, anxiety, existential questioning, trauma, illness, bereavement and addictions are some of the areas in which I have experience.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
