At Pacific Counseling and Trauma Center since 2016, my experience includes Individual and Couples Counseling, kids, teens and young adults, ADD , those struggling with codependency and helping individuals heal from abuse and neglect.
I feel incredibly fortunate to help my clients find the freedom to live a life of their choosing, improve their relationship with self and others, and find peace. I use brain-based therapies proven to uncover and address issues that talk therapy can take years to heal. In doing so I help children, teens and adults overcome challenges that keep them stuck in negative patterns. Often traumas are at the root of these negative patterns. By offering Brainspotting, a cutting-edge therapy that evolved from EMDR, trauma is accessed, processed and released. This is life-changing. This is freedom.

I work with a broad spectrum of individuals, dealing with a wide variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, grief, PTSD, emotional trauma, anger management, transition, OCD, ADD or ADHD , etc.
I am a firm believer in the mind, body, spirit connection, and as a result take a very holistic approach with my clients. This model emphasizes cultivating a warm and supportive environment, which creates the conditions necessary to facilitate the natural tendency of human beings to move toward wellness. It recognizes that the path to healing, joy and contentment, is an inward journey, which seeks to allow clients to shift from a sense that they are helpless and at the mercy of their circumstances, to a position of empowerment. This process leads clients on a path toward realizing their full potential.

Hello and welcome to my page. With over 15 years of experience, I work with children (ages 3-18) and families facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, adjustment-related stress, chronic illness, relationship challenges and behavioral problems. My therapeutic approach largely depends on the age and needs of the child, teen, or family. Mindful Self Compassion, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), play and art therapy, as well as attachment-based and relational work are modalities I use often. I also offer psychological evaluations to help clarify diagnoses, identify intellectual abilities (learning disorder, ADHD , giftedness), and/or identify underlying personality and motivations.

I treat trauma, victims of crime, PTSD, grief, anxiety, depression, addiction, self-esteem issues, self-sabotaging behaviors, stress, OCD, ADHD , domestic/sexual violence and abuse, anger management, personality disorders, separation and divorce.
We all strive to be happy in life. Unfortunately life is full of unpredictable struggles that get in the way of our path to happiness. To gain true happiness we must learn how to love ourselves. Loving ourselves starts with self-understanding and believing in ourselves. Struggles unfortunately make us believe that things are not meant to be, or that we will simply never be happy. This negative pattern of thinking is what keeps us from finding happiness. Remember, we have all the tools within us to achieve happiness and create the life we love.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
