I greatly enjoy working with both youth and adults who may need support with anxiety, trauma, depression, and improving self-esteem.
Hello and welcome! I'm thrilled to be considered as part of your wellbeing journey. I'm a LCSW with over 3 years of experience working with children, teens, and adults. Prior to becoming a clinician, I worked for many years in the early childhood education field and as a counselor for teens in a residential setting. I have graduate degrees in both human and social services (2019) and social work (2021). Presently, I'm working on my PhD in social work at Walden University. I'm passionate about the benefits of therapy and the positive difference a caring relationship with a therapist can bring.

Being a trauma survivor myself, I believe that counseling is a vital part of recovery.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, my goal is to help people become the best version of themselves. No matter your past, I believe with the appropriate information, training and teaching your life can improve. I desire to help people experience transformation and restoration that will last. I have experience working with children, individuals and couples. I subscribe to a family systems approach when working with children and have found it is most beneficial to include parents and siblings in treatment. I also have a passion to help people who have experienced trauma and am trained in EMDR.

My counseling is rooted in a trauma-informed, strengths-based perspective, and I work hard to support you in reaching your goals.
Very few people know what is really going on in your life and just how stuck you feel. It has gotten to the point where you no longer recognize yourself and have no idea how you got here. Maybe you feel like everything in your life, including yourself is out of control or that getting out of bed takes all your energy before your day has even started. Maybe you are flooded with unwanted memories from the past and you have turned to drugs or alcohol to cope. You’re exhausted and know that life cannot continue like this anymore. You are looking for a change, and are searching for support. I can help!

I have grown a particular passion to work with those struggling with eating disorders, trauma, and life transitions.
There are times in our lives when we feel like things are falling apart. But what if they were actually falling into place? In a safe and caring space, and with compassion and grace, we could explore those areas of your life that have made it difficult (and sometimes impossible) to experience hope, peace, or purpose. Whether we go on a journey to explore your past to heal wounds or remain focused in the present, together we can discover the path forward.

A compassionate life-change approach is foundational to healing and lasting positive change. Anchored in compassion, you can begin putting to rest the voices of inner-criticism and condemnation that you may be experiencing. Much of my training and continuing education since becoming licensed as a psychotherapist are in the fields of neuroscience, research on therapeutic practices from a neuro-informed orientation, and trauma healing from a spiritually-based approach. I am also an Amen Clinics brain imaging affiliate psychotherapist with training in brain health and wellbeing.

I use a trauma-informed approach when working with clients, and specialize in body-based and psychosensory techniques, including brainspotting, safe and sound protocol, nurturing touch technique, and expressive art therapies.
Wouldn’t it be nice if life felt like taking a well-traveled path – full of signs, directions and even tour guides to help us when we get lost? For many of us, life does not feel that way; it can even feel like we took a wrong turn along the way, and suddenly we are on a cliff-edged trail that is getting narrower and narrower. When we experience chronic stress – whether it be from trauma, relational issues, anxiety, depression or even sensitivity – life can feel hard. As pressure mounts, we can find ourselves reacting to daily experiences through outbursts of emotion, impulsivity, agitation or even numbing out.

Then something happens, whether it’s circumstances, conflict, or trauma, life goes awry, and it can be hard to know how to fix it.
“We are all going through something.” – Anonymous. Feeling stuck, overwhelmed and unable to move forward and live your best life? Oftentimes it’s about your relationships, communicating with your partner, major decisions, or facing life’s unexpected challenges. Every so often it can even be those long-standing issues that you’ve been able to deal with, but this time, you just need a little help. To be human is to be in a relationship. Relationships can be with your spouse or partner, with your family, or even with Yourself.

I work with people experiencing phase of life hurdles, parent/marital conflict, post-traumatic stress, eating disorders, & depression and anxiety.
It is often when we feel the most overwhelmed __ when we have "tried everything we know" to feel better, to make changes, to break out of bad habits or unhelpful behavior patterns __ that we find ourselves the most open to growth and change. This is the purpose of psychotherapy. To provide us with the opportunity to open to the process of self-discovery __ to explore our thoughts, our feelings, and our behaviors and to find or regain our essential wholeness and sense of well-being.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
