It has been my life-long passion to help others, as I have been through my own personal journey of healing and overcoming through many seasons in my life. I enjoy walking alongside my clients as they process their journeys, and helping them to gain a better understanding of themselves and build skills in areas where they feel stuck. I believe that building trust and connection in our therapeutic relationship is essential. I have been told that I make people feel comfortable very quickly and that I am easy to talk to. My counseling style is to create a safe and nurturing atmosphere where you feel seen and cared about unconditionally.

You’re finding it more and more difficult to hold it all together. After pushing down your emotions and "going along with things" for so long, there is all of a sudden very little space to hold anything else. It’s hard to concentrate, you’re irritable, your body aches. There are times when you feel you could jump out of your skin from the racing thoughts, and there are times where you want to crawl under a rock to escape the overwhelm. What has always worked in the past is not even touching these feelings.

“It will always be this way.” “I can never change.” “No one cares about me.” It can be easy to find yourself giving in to negative thoughts like these. The longer the thoughts linger, the more painful they become. You may feel as if you have tried just about everything to stop the ache. Or maybe you’re just too tired to try anything at all.

I have provided individual, couple and family therapy to the community for 25 years and strongly believe that healing and growth is possible. Particular specialties include couple and family therapy including LGBT, anxiety, addiction, grief, and trauma. I utilize both traditional therapy and EMDR (for trauma). It is often when we feel the most overwhelmed __ when we have "tried everything we know" to feel better, to make changes, to break out of bad habits or unhelpful behavior patterns __ that we find ourselves the most open to growth and change. This is the purpose of psychotherapy. To provide us with the opportunity to open to the process of self-discovery __ to explore our thoughts, our feelings, and our behaviors and to find or regain our essential wholeness and sense of well-being.

Beginning therapy is a courageous step, and it deserves to be met with care, compassion, and respect. You may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about where to begin, but you know something in your life needs to change. Even the process of finding a therapist can feel exhausting when you're carrying anxiety, navigating difficult relationships, processing painful experiences, or managing the demands of everyday life. Wherever you are in your journey, you don't have to face it alone. I work with individuals, children, teens, and families in a supportive, inclusive space where your voice is heard and your strengths are recognized.

All the thoughts you’ve never said out loud have been weighing you down. You put pressure on yourself to perform perfectly all the time, so much so that you think no one knows who you really are or how you really feel. Yet, you don’t know when it’s safe to let your walls down or let people in because being seen can feel scary and vulnerable. You give so much to others without giving to yourself or getting much in return. You’re willing to put your relationship with yourself first so that you can walk in the world more authentically.

Let’s be real, life didn’t exactly come with an instruction manual, and some days it feels like you’re just trying to hang on while everything moves way too fast. It’s totally normal to feel like you're carrying more than your fair share, wondering if you'll ever get to set it down. Many people are looking for a way to feel more like themselves again. Confident, calm, and maybe even excited to start the day (imagine that!). Therapy can be a place to catch your breath, sort through the chaos, and figure out what you actually want your life to look like. Whatever you’re carrying, you don’t have to do it alone.

Helping people struggling with ADHD and trauma is my passion. I see ADHD as a different way to see and learn, not necessarily a "disorder." I enjoy working with clients who are ready to find ways to increase their quality of life. Another focus of treatment is exploring unresolved trauma that impacts functioning. It's amazing how processing these events changes the way you react to stress. The difference is processing from the mid brain. Brainspotting is used to accomplish this necessary part of healing. It literally speeds up therapy. Let's talk and decide if it can help.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
