No matter your age, life can be unpredictable and can take you down difficult emotional journeys. For children and teens expressing emotions verbally can be even harder due to their developmental level. Situations like divorce, moving, a death in the family, school problems, friend issues and etc. often lead to negative behavioral changes or withdrawing. This is often due to their inability to express themselves properly. My role as a therapist is to create a comfortable and safe place for my clients to process their emotions and explore their inner self in a way that will help promote healing.

Life is hard. Relationships can be stressful. Many find that their lives are not working well, but may have trouble understanding their options, or have fears about change. Psychotherapy can be life-changing by identifying options, changing faulty thinking, freeing you from past hurts and wounds. It is both challenging and supportive; challenging because sometimes we need a "push" to confront our dysfunction or ineffective behavior; and supportive because change often takes place with encouragement. Most importantly, therapy is collaborative. You are the expert on you; I am the expert on human behavior- it takes both perspectives to have effective treatment.

There are times when a soul needs care navigating the trials and challenges along life's path. A peaceful journey is what everyone desires but trauma, depression or crippling anxiety from emotional and/or physical hurts such as: complicated grief, abuse, bullying, caregiver anxiety, sickness, accidents, even unfulfilled expectations can trip up and sabotage a traveler’s passage. Your journey is important and there is help for your course.

At the root of all psychological and emotional distress, is the absence of/or lack of love, acceptance and belonging. When this need is not met, we consciously and subconsciously find other ways to fill the void, often through self-destructive behaviors and emotional self-loathing. The vast majority of people do not know how to love themselves or find value in who they are, especially when coming from backgrounds of abuse, addiction or abandonment. When a person understands their value, their self-worth, their reason for being, the psychological and emotional distress dissipates, and behaviors change.

I am currently only accepting new clients via telehealth. My goal is to walk alongside you on your journey and provide the support you need on the journey. There is no judgement based on diagnosis or background. I have spent most of my clinician career working with those with severe mental illness diagnosis or requiring residential mental health treatment. For those transitioning from that setting it is hard to find a clinician and one of my goals is to be able to walk alongside those in transition from residential or intensive mental health treatment as they re-integrate back home.

You feel numb and hopeless. This feeling of loneliness feels hollow and empty and no one seems to get it. You feel as though the waves are crashing down on you and you cant catch a break. No one understands the pain, the hurt, the bad thoughts that scare you to death. You question your existence. You question if there is a high power, a light, just something to ease these feelings for just a day. I am here here to say, there is hope. I will give you the ladder and help you climb out of that dark hole and you will be able to live life again.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your journey! I am ONLY taking patients who are young/new moms or moms with depression. This focus specializing in helping moms (especially new moms) adjust to motherhood and the stressors that this transition brings is a passion of mine and I have been doing a lot of training to groups about this. Most of us LOVE our babies, but find the transition into parenthood difficult. I can help with Postpartum Adjustment/depression/anxiety/PTSD, Birth Trauma and just feeling "NORMAL" again. I love helping families!

How can I find a therapist in Exeter?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
