Anxiety has left you not wanting to get out of bed some days. You feel weighted down or always on edge, worried about every next thing and you don't know if you can cope with any of it. Things have happened in your past, there's been hurt and traumatic events and they seem to have a lasting impact for you, your
family
, and those you care about. You long to feel close and comfortable with those you care about. But everything that's happened in the past doesn't allow for the ease of connection you desire.

I pull on a variety of techniques and approaches tailored to fit the specific needs of the individual, couple or
family
, including psychodynamic, developmental and attachment theories, cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal neurobiology, voice dialogue, DBT, mindfulness, meditation, and compassionate/non-violent communication.
Valuing the therapeutic relationship as primary, I enjoy working with clients at deep structural levels to promote insight into, and integration of their inter/intrapersonal relationship dynamics. This is a process that has, at its core, the goal of engendering ever more conscious, authentic and compassionate ways of relating to the self, others and the world in ways that facilitate genuine healing and intimacy.

This helps us work together to find solutions that are a good fit for you/ your
family
.
I believe that solutions are as varied as people. Your individual style or temperament is the key to who you are and what works for you. I believe that everyone has a meaningful life story and in the power of telling that story and having it heard. I believe in inspiration and in practical solutions. I believe in the importance of good self care and that many things are therapeutic in addition to therapy. I will help you to find other inner and external resources which are supportive and helpful towards the changes you wish to make.

Are you trans, queer, or non-monogamous? Do you feel at the edges of gender or relationship? Are you seeking support with gender transition? My practice is centered on supporting trans and queer people in creating lives that are vibrant, balanced, and celebrated. You can accomplish this by creating a clear roadmap to move from uncertainty to clarity in yourself, and in relation to others. People who choose to work with me are often seeking a therapist who has a lived experience with gender, sexuality, non-monogamy, and alternative
family
structures. When working with me the "non-typical" is honored as a strength.

For the past sixteen years, I have been helping people work through relationship and
family
conflict, negative thought patterns and behaviors, substance abuse, depression and anxiety.
When times are tough and the day-to-day feels like a struggle, it can be difficult to reach out for help. You may not know where to go or what to do to make things better. You may be telling yourself that you should be able to solve whatever you are dealing with on your own. The truth is everyone needs help sometimes. I will work with you on identifying what is troubling you, and will help guide you towards health and healing. You are NOT alone and you do not have to struggle. I'm here to help.

Everyone has within them the capacity to heal. Sometimes, though, it’s helpful to have someone come alongside of you on your journey. As an infant-
family
early childhood mental health specialist, I work with children and families across physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental domains, employing a strong attachment-based approach while also using cognitive-behavioral, narrative,
family
systems, and solution-oriented frameworks. I also love to work within a Christian framework if so desired by the client and/or
family
.

My goal is to help people connect with themselves and others in meaningful and satisfying ways. Connection with the self allows acceptance and enjoyment of life without fear, suspicion, self-judgment, etc., which can prevent us from living life to its fullest. Connection with others allows us to "double our joy and divide our grief."
Addressing issues such as depression, self-esteem, or anger can enhance our abilities to know ourselves and be fully present with others. I use an eclectic therapeutic style so that the work can be tailored to fit each client in each session.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
