My goal is to support you in building your capacity to feel your emotions without becoming stuck or overwhelmed. Once we are not stuck or overwhelmed, we can choose what in our life we want to define us rather than our biggest pains. I see personal growth as an important part of integration and wholeness. Areas of exploration often include: identity, health and fulfillment in relationships, utilizing healthy boundaries, increasing quality self-care, connecting to sense of personal empowerment. Along with relational talk therapy my work is trauma informed and utilizes mindfulness,
art
, somatic and cognitive based interventions.

It's the middle of the night and you can't sleep. You keep trying to understand why you are so stuck in your life and your relationship. Your partner is asleep in the other room because you are fighting again. You've done so much to try to feel connected but it isn't working. It's so different than what you experience when you are in community, surrounded by people who are vibrant and expansive. Like that time you were at Burning Man and you felt so alive only to come home to a life that feels numb, and disconnected. No matter how many plant medicine ceremonies, books, or courses you do, you still find yourself frustrated.

Life sometimes presents us with challenges that can feel overwhelming and cause deep emotional pain. Working from a strength-based perspective, individuals can explore their resiliency and tap into their own authenticity. Counseling provides people with a safe place to vocalize their struggles, needs, wants and values. It allows for growth and healing to occur while encouraging positive change within the individual and their lives.

The pandemic was hard on all of us. If you feel like you need some support or help to desal the last couple of years, I'm here. We all need help occasionally. Learning how to approach and overcome these challenges shape us and allow us to experience life to the fullest. Therapy allows us to look at where we may be blocked and helps us find our own answers to living an authentic life. I discovered that building a supportive relationship through therapy creates a safe place to explore life issues, understand difficult situations, learn new skills, enrich relationships, and work through situations that lead to a more authentic life.

Among the issues that I work with in therapy are life transitions, depression, anxiety, midlife issues, self-esteem, creativity, aging, stress, grief, relationship issues including LGBT, women's issues, the fear of flying, and the emotional issues that come with Celiac disease. I work with individuals to find new and more positive approaches to the challenges of life. I offer both short-term issue-focused therapy and long-term more depth-oriented work in which you can make better choices rooted in your core values.

You can’t take it anymore. You feel yourself both falling apart inside, freaking out, and then shutting down. You try to live your daily life, but the issues of everyday life trigger memories, leaving you feeling emotionally flooded and agitated. You don’t want to continue the pain of the past into your future, but you find yourself having reactions out of proportion to what is happening. It feels unbearable. You want to be sure the people you love are protected and nurtured unlike how you felt growing up. You worry all the time and you feel paralyzed, as though nothing you do or try matters or makes a difference.

It takes courage to ask for help. I honor you in your pursuit of healing and wholeness. Experience and data show that a strong therapeutic relationship is the key to success in therapy. I endeavor to provide a safe container into which each individual human being who comes for therapy is welcomed. Being met with empathy, respect, acceptance, kindness, understanding, genuineness and non-judgement opens a space where each person can explore their issues without feeling the need to censor or conform. Having another person inalienably aligned with your own deepest Self empowers your unique route to healing and so transformation.

I believe that the therapy process is a practice of paying attention to what is actually happening - it sounds simple, but this is actually a deeply profound and challenging stance to maintain towards life. The work we do in therapy involves bringing elements of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, how we relate to ourselves and to others, and how we move through the world, from the darkness of the unconscious into the light of consciousness where we can take a look at them. We do not have to struggle and toil in order to implement change in our lives.

My specialization includes the treatment of trauma, anxiety, PTSD, and cPTSD. I utilize somatic, holistic, client-centered therapy, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP), psychedelic integration, and mindfulness meditation - in service of growth, healing, and connectedness. I have undergone KAP training through Polaris Insight Training Program. I create a heart-centered space of safety and support for adults and adolescents, including their transition into adulthood. I’m a child psychotherapist that works with new parents, children, and adolescents. You might be here because you have questions about your child’s behavior, wish for a more satisfying parent-child relationship, or are overwhelmed from the stresses of parenthood. Perhaps painful memories from your own childhood are impacting your parenting and family. Becoming a parent is one of the most profound transitions in the adult life cycle, and it naturally brings up shifts in our external and internal lives. It’s my honor to support individuals, couples, families, and children through this period and beyond.

Art Therapy
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.
Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.
How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.
What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
