I often work with individuals who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, stuck in patterns shaped by past experiences, or uncertain during life transitions. They may be a child struggling at school, a teen navigating identity and relationships, or an adult longing for deeper healing. They want to feel seen, supported, and safe—to understand themselves more fully and reconnect with their sense of strength and possibility. They’re seeking not just symptom relief, but lasting change, guided by compassion, consistency, and the belief that growth is possible—even in the messiest seasons of life.

Through the unique connection of therapy you can learn to balance acceptance and change. By identifying self protective behaviors and defenses you can understand their origins, purpose, and how they may now be causing more suffering than protection. The symptoms of these barriers manifest as depression, anxiety, addiction, relational conflict, substance abuse, loneliness and physical illness. You can learn to challenge and release these old beliefs and discover new ways of relating to yourself and others. Through the balancing process of acceptance versus change you can develop new understanding that promotes healing and growth.

I offer Somatic EMDR intensives for high-functioning adults seeking focused trauma resolution and meaningful relief.
Intensives are not about working harder — they’re about working with precision. For many clients, spacing trauma work weeks apart can prolong distress. Intensives allow us to stay with the process long enough for the nervous system to complete what it started. I have the experience to guide you, many clients see meaningful changes in a few weeks, not years.

The people who usually see me are tired of being fearful, angry, depressed, beaten down, etc., and are ready to face the past so that they can live a more joy-filled life. They are trapped in the past, directly or indirectly, reliving the pain and horrors. It is exhausting, and increasingly, it is the only way to see the world.
Understandably, they want to stop hurting and repeating the past and find a way forward. While they do not forget it, they want to be no longer trapped in the emotions accompanying memories. They want it to be a part of their past, not their present.

I approach therapy with the Nervous System in mind and its impact on our thoughts, memories, and reactions with the use of EMDR, Somatic, & Parts Work.
Do you find yourself stuck in a cycle of intrusive thoughts, react from 0 to 10 in seconds, and start to feel out of control? After, feel guilty, embarrassed, want to hide and keep to yourself? Only leading to loneliness and sadness? You wish you could avoid this happening ever again.
Somehow, deep down inside, you know it can be better.
And it can. At Trevino Counseling and Wellness, I help individuals break the cycle and overcome anxiety and traumatic experiences that continue to impact their lives today. Whether it was a one-time occurrence or several throughout one's life.

I have successfully coached healthcare workers through burn out by creating space for healing through acknowledgement and release of the stress and trauma stored in their body. Letting go of these negative experiences, strengthens their connection to others and brings clarity to their passion and purpose. I have also led trainings on topics such as emotion regulation, conflict resolution and effective communication. I created and led various support groups and trainings related to grief, chronic pain, imposter syndrome and burnout.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
